Conor McManus should certainly have got a mention, as should Sean Cavanagh. Personally think McManus is slightly better player than Michael Murphy.
I like Shannon as a writer (and he’s a definite alright sort) but there was a clear Cork bias to some of his best the rest selections.
But Cork were one of the best teams in that period and won an AI, it’s hardly that surprising.
You must rate Daniel Goulding very highly so in light of his winning point for Cork in their one point win over the aristocrats of Ulster football, Down in the 2010 All Ireland Final.
On this basis Stephen Cluxton is a clutch forward as he has scored the winning points in two one point All-Ireland final victories. To the best of my knowledge nobody else has ever done this.
Says the lad who thinks Dessie Moan is better than James McCarthy. You fucking tool.
Shields is more athletic than Gormley. But of course for the majority of their careers they were in completely different positions, so the comparison/complaint is what’s retarded.
Mone is a much better player than McCarthy, a far, far, far more accomplished defender.
I’m not smoking anything. McCarthy is a very good athlete but his defensive qualities are lacking. Mone is a superb defender, aligned by the fact that he spent a lot of his career being used as Monaghan’s main man marker despite the fact that his qualities were much more at use as a wing back.
