Retiring GAA Stars tribute thread - May cause brain/neck damage

nope, I wont

Didn’t think you would.

He never cost his team an all ireland by stupidly handling the ball on the ground either.

Gooch ticked all the boxes.

Left foot
Right foot
Great in the air
Wonderful football brain
Big game player
Consistent

I can recall watching his goal in 2011 AI against Dublin. Darren O’Sullivan ran at Ger Brennan and all of a sudden Gooch sprung into life off Cian O’Sullivan I think. Popped pass from O’Sullivan and Cooper slots it home effortlessly.

Paul Galvin balling his eyes out over a qualifier victory in July would suggest otherwise.

How many from play?

McConville was a wing forward.

Most of us learned fans recall him going missing when games went into the melting pot.

That post deserved a better reaction

You started watching football around 3 years ago after been repeatedly being called out on rubbish.

Outside of analysis Ulster counties, Cork and Kerry you have some balance and something reasonable to say.

But being a stupid cunt ruins it for ya.

@Nembo_Kid will ignore it because he made an awful fool of himself on that subject before.

Gooch was a very fine player, overrated in my opinion because he was regarded by many as the best of his generation and one of the GOAT. A joy to watch.

Completely incorrect.

People who eulogise Gooch are generally ones who don’t have the nous to actually understand the game or confidence not to regurgitate whatever mainstream propagandists say.

Those who know, know he was overrated.

Three our of five points in 2005 - even after they tried to take his eyes out.

Three out of six points in 2008.

Irrelevant. He played most of his ball closer to goal.

He wasn’t a defensive wing forward in the Paul Galvin/Brian Dooher mould.

And how many in 03?

I rate Canavan as the best I’ve seen and Gooch not so far behind him, but behind him nonetheless.

If i was picking a full foward line from 2000-2015 I’d have Gooch, Canavan and Matty Forde (Padraig Joyce if I wasn’t biased).

Relevant.

McConville covered huge ground.

It’s a bit harsh to be expecting him to score in an All Ireland final between Armagh and Tyrone.

If it’s the semi-final you’re referring to, he scored 0-01 of Kerry’s six points on the day.

To It can’t be summer every season though, as you said yourself when referring the poor showing of the Ulster teams in the 2016 All Ireland Senior Football Championship.
