One of the great players of the last 20 years. Definitely one of the greatest ever players to not win an all Ireland.

It’s just crazy how a football mad county like Mayo can produce so many top defenders like Higgins, Keegan, Boyle etc but not produce a single standout forward at any time over the last 20 years.

Class player but he was more a play maker really, incredibly skilful but not a really prolific scorer.
By standout forward I mean a Sean Cavanagh, Canavan, Bernard Brogan, Connolly, Kilkenny, Michael Murphy, Conor McManus etc.

McDonald and Moran were at that level and O’Connor will undoubtedly be by the end of his career too.

Andy Moran had an average enough intercounty career for the most part. Then a few Indian summers at the end of his career when he carried Mayo and was excellent.
McDonald was an excellent player, a maverick, but he wasn’t a real top drawer forward IMO.
Cillian O’Connor has never stood up in the biggest games and dragged Mayo home. All well and good doing it in the qualifiers against dross or Tipperary in Croke Park and tapping over 21 yard frees but on the biggest days… did he do anything against Dublin in the second half in 2019 or 2020?
