RH and Cody never hit it off, from the start. RH is too independent minded for him.
JH and Cody is a much funnier one, because JH just trains away, diligently and honestly. No one can understand why JH could not make the backs in 2019 and 2020 – in 2021, even. But Cody has a notably ignorant side.
You have an eejit here perpetuating the biggest myth in hurling: that Brian Cody is getting the best out of a really limited bunch. Here is a team that could have been played this year and last year:
Eoin Murphy
Darren Mullen
Huw Lawlor
Tommy Walsh
James Maher
Conor Delaney
Conor Browne/Joey Holden
Paddy Deegan
Pádraig Walsh
Adrian Mullen
TJ Reid
Billy Ryan
Colin Fennelly
John Donnelly
Eoin Cody
That team would hardly beat Limerick but would put it up to anyone. And you would have some decent subs as well. However that XV might be described, it is certainly not notably limited – especially if well prepared in a good atmosphere. The forward sextet is potent.
I will maybe list Cody’s most egregious mistakes over the last six seasons in a post tomorrow.
Probably still seeing Callanan in his sleep, swanning about and languidly floating over points as Joey looked on in the manner of a goat during a thunderstorm - I can hear it but where the fuck is it……
Cody should have departed after the 2016 All Ireland Final. Kilkenny have had some awful defeats/maulings/collapses over the last 5 years starting with that 2016 Final.
This line that there’s nobody within the county or anywhere that could get more out of the talent that’s in Kilkenny than Cody amuses me.
Iggy Clarke has a 0-3 record for the 3 All Ireland finals he played in.
Galway lost three finals in the 1950’s in 1953, 1955 and 1958. Good few there with a 0-3 record.
Wexford lost 3 finals in the 1970’s in 1970, 1976 and 1977. Martin Quigley and @Fagan_ODowd’s pal Mick Butler would be two who were too young in 1968 who had a 0-3 record. Probably a few others too.
