Retiring GAA Stars tribute thread - May cause brain/neck damage

To win back to back and three in four years… That’s a dynasty.

To be a Hall of Famer you have at a basic minimum, have played in some of the greatest games of all time.

All the Dublin lads did that, the Mayo lads did that, some Kerry lads did.

In hurling the Tipp, Kilkenny and some Galway lads did that.

Whether ye like it or not, the Limerick lads haven’t yet.

People forget games over time, you don’t forget dynasties.

Is Philly a household name for being a great player? I wouldn’t have thought so. He’s way down the list of best players on recent Dublin teams.

You wouldn’t rate the 2018 semi v cork no? Or last years Munster final. ?

That’s a fair point about all time great games. It was a typical sneaky dirty Tipperary trick to decide to become shit when we were good.

Yeah, beating teams in consecutive All-Ireland finals by 11 and 16 points respectively will always go against them in the Hall of Famer debate.

Would be better off to have lost at least one of them.

No sure I’m saying Davy Fitz is the most famous. Hardly judging it on playing ability alone

Kyle Hayes with three All Ireland medals at 23 years of age.

Its incredible stuff. The young man was motm in the 2018 breakthrough All Ireland for Limerick as well at 19 years of age.

That is something else. Not to mention his goals in the 2019 and 2021 Munster finals.

A legend he is already.

It’s about having personality on and off the pitch.

The Dublin Boys had it in spades. Bar Cian Lynch and The Dow, the Limerick lads don’t cut it.

Are Tipp running out of Mahers?

Covid definitely has taken away from Limerick a bit there’s no doubt about it. They’ll probably put that right in front of full houses in next few years though. They badly need a close rival though. A dubs to Kerry in 70s, tipp or cork to Cody’s Kilkenny, mayo to the modern dubs.

The league isn’t starting a mi ute too late judging by some of the posts. Lads need to get out for a bit of fresh air and clear the lungs

There is one game of hurling worth attending this spring and it is on in Croker Saturday week .

The rest is pointless all told

Great to have the 22 Centra/Supervalu shops in Limerick selling tickets for the league.

Galway at home on a Saturday night will be box office.

In terms of relevance I agree with you but in terms of shaking g off the winter cobwebs, it’s good to get out rather than having to watch another "super Sunday " on sky sports

The Limerick lads probably don’t know what game you are referring to.

@Ashman is limerick. :man_shrugging:

There are Mayo people I know who regard the All Ireland football wins garnered by Roscommon in 43/44 during “The Emergency” in the same light.
