Retiring GAA Stars tribute thread - May cause brain/neck damage
It’s people’s objective opinion on who is the better player. Not how many medals they have or games they played in.
Matt Connor had his playing career tragically cut short and played far less and won far less than Mike Sheehy yet even Kerry people can’t separate the 2. Should Connors be withdrawn from the debate cos he played less?
Matt Connor achieved something in his short career, he won an All Ireland and Leinster titles so why you’re bringing him into this debate makes no sense to me. Have you been paying attention to what I said? What has Declan Browne ever achieved? Take Eamon O’Hara for instance, comes across as a right bellend but he was a fantastic player, I remember watching him defeat Tryone pretty much by himself in Croke Park, Tyrone went on to win the All Ireland 12 months later. Dessie Dolan delivered a first Leinster title in yonks? Matty Forde brought Wexford to an All Ireland semi final. You can argue about the merits of the teams but the fact is those players were protagonists in bringing their county to unchartered territory in that time period. What did Declan Browne ever achieve?

With your ulster chip on your shoulder you just barged in with a ridiculous comparison that isn’t there.

I have no idea what this part is about? Care to elaborate.

Any right thinking person sees they your biased horseshit. The only support you get is from some browls who I have burned elsewhere.
If I said black Sid would say white, just like you. Grow up.[/qoute]

Again, this makes no sense. You have came in with a contradictory viewpoint on an initial comment I made and now you are saying I only go against you. Your brain process and distributes information in a retarded manner.

Wexford for Fordes best years were significantly better than Tipp when Browne was.
Of course that’s not even the debate you clown.

I’m asking you to tell me what Declan Browne ever achieved and all you’re doing is avoiding the question. I gave the examples of Forde, Dolan and O’Hara as players who bringing their counties to a level they weren’t at previously. Barry Owens would be another example in that regard with Fermanagh. If Browne was as good as people say, Tipperary would have done something, they did absolutely fuck all in his entire career.

I might be wrong (manuel?) but wexford with forde played tipp with browne in the. Tommy Murphy final before the 05 armagh tyrone semi final. I was at the game and the nordies were talking beforehand about seeing forde as he had been well hyped. He did nothing, Wexford didnt seem too pushed but browne was majestic long range points from both feet, one of the sweetest kickers ive ever seen of a ball, beat wexford on his own. The nordies around me couldn’t get over him.

Sligo westmeath and wexford all had far better teams than that tipp team. But if they had to go through cork or kerry every year theyd have as little impact as tipp and none of the provincial titles the first two won.

Cork were shit when Browne played for Tipperary. Sligo also very nearly beat Kerry a couple of years ago, missing a late penalty in a narrow defeat. Did Tipp ever manage to beat Cork or Kerry when Browne was playing? Did they ever even run them close?

What did Declan Browne ever do?

Wexford got to an AI semi final?

Didn’t they draw with cork in a munster final. You seem to be missing the point that he had shit players around him, its not basketball, theres fuck all he could do if they were getting beat around the field. But you seem a bit slow on the uptake.

Do you not remember that Tommy Murphy final i mentioned by the way?

2008

The omission of John Quane and John Galvin tells you all you need to know about that list.

Playing on a shit team is a weak point. The players I mentioned were all able to bring their teams some sort of respect, they were all able to put in huge performances in high pressure games and grab a few scalps. Declan Browne’s legacy would seem to have been scoring a few nice points in games where Tipp were getting hammered.

Westmeath and sligo had a lot of decent players. What have offaly achieved with shane dooley? Wicklow with Leighton Glynn? Theres countless examples of class players not winning anything by being surrounded by nothing. as the cliche goes, if dj carey was born in carlow would people rave about him? 15 man game can’t be decided by one man

Tipperary never even came remotely close to beating a mid-tier side, Wicklow had a few very good results under Micko.

I was at that Tommy Murphy final and I remember absolutely nothing about it.

You’d be wrong, and he was far from overhyped. The man was an absolute pleasure to watch and a gentleman to boot.

People using a Tommy Murphy Cup match to try and big up Browne

Every game Browne played in was live

Live televised games.

Declan Browne > Paddy Bradley at Gaelic Football.

Having seen them both play many times.
