They look about twice/three times the size of a regular eclair, with a bucket of cream to probably feed a family of 6, so not appalling value

Yep.
My mate Paddy works for a well known brewing conglomerate. When he started, they sent him to the mainland as they said he could cut his teeth there, it was too easy to make money in Ireland and he’d learn nothing.

I was just in that new coffee shop in alderley edge there. I’ve never seen as many beautiful young things in one place. It is clearly the place to go.
Coffee was ok at seven quid for a latte and an Americano.
I bought a cinnamon bun. Granted it was very nice, and enough that my companion (a previous celeb spot ironically) had half and it was plenty, but at £4.85 (for a bun) it was up there with avoca. I felt slightly mugged off. Id been expecting about £3.50 and wouldn’t have paid £4.85 on principle. There were no prices.
