You said he was being careful, that he didn’t want to offend anyone? Why.did he need to be careful and who did he not want to offend? I was just asking you what you meant. Is that such a big deal?
You’re ignorant. That’s ok
I’m an extremely polite person. If you mean ignorant as in unaware of the subject, you are in fact 100% correct. I’m completely oblivious to extremist behaviour. Can’t comprehend it.
Are there any decent pubs in Londonderry?
You gee bag.
Its the name of a fucking place lads. The more you react to people using it, the more power it has over you.
You just dont get it fella.
Can you understand that the bigoted faction will approve of Rory using the term. They’ll still look down their nose at him, even more so bow that he’s bent the knee. He’ll still be a Catholic, but at least he’s been house trained.
There’s nothing polite about calling someone an extremist when you don’t 100% don’t understand the subject
Its very possible I don’t. You claim a loss of identity by a place being called one thing over an other.
Putting your identity in a word?
Identity is who you are. A place name can’t change that kid
Do you get upset with Charleville being called Charleville.
Should we go back to having all Irish towns called by their Gaelic names?
You still dont get it do you … it’s not the name… it’s the mindset …
I may not understand the subject but I know with certainty that your reaction is extremely irrational.
Ok. Its the mindset of both sides if that’s the case
I want to call it this but you can’t call it that because it’s not nice. It’s pathetic.
You’re entitled to your opinion, however misinformed
You just dont get it fella.
I don’t. I really don’t.
Lads getting worked up because a lad who lives in America called a place by a name.
Don’t sweat the small stuff lads. Life will go smoother
So you don’t see the significance of adopting a name imposed on you by people who look down on you? If you don’t see it fair enough but I think you do see it
I’m beginning to doubt your intelligence now.
If you react to it you’ll always be looking up at them
You thought I was thick and are now coming around. You’ll get there
React how? By copying them or by being yourself. I think you’re starting to get it
You couldn’t be anymore wrong.
I have seen the chaps “brand triangle” used to hawk him to marketers.
“Irish” is near the top.
Doesn’t mean anything on what he “feels” or any bollix like that, but it is in his brand.
Why do people have such a problem with this? Lots of people in the North say it. The pretend IRA lads on here grew up watching British TV and soccer but doing Junior Cert history means they’re all in the Ra. McIllroy grew up watching British tv and sport as well, albeit he was going home to watch BBC NI after school and mixing with middle class Prods in county Down. I imagine the simple reason that he called it Londonderry as that what was parroted on TV and in school.
Not everything is political.
What makes McIlroy a bellend at times is stuff like his approach to the Olympics. He lied about his reason for not going but then went off a few weeks later and denigrated the event (and all the people who worked hard to get gold into the Olympics). He has a bellend streak running through him that he has mostly neutered, but nobody is perfect to be fair.
