Russia Vs Ukraine (Part 2) - Neocons Strike Back

That is literally the opposite of what happened

Itā€™s one thing to be thick, itā€™s another to be wilfully thick.

They pulled back in Nov. Started to advance in Feb / March? Heā€™s had an injection of 500k plus troops and is firing upwards of 50k shells a day now? The new toys have been devastating but Ukraine is running low on munitions already. The Russian tactic of firing bodies at it is working

Iā€™ll have to take your word on it .

What criteria are you using to make this assessment? A headcount?

As usual I havenā€™t a clue what youā€™re on about

ā€¦Either your madman theory or your hitler comparison. Are you just repeating something youā€™ve heard or is it based on some logicā€¦like a headcount of victims?

I said ā€˜what I think isā€™
Itā€™s right there in my post, Iā€™m not reporting facts

The comparison to 1938 is blindingly obvious on many levels, obviously youā€™ll know of many other levels where it differs and focus on them while calling me an idiot, I know the routine by now :+1:

Itā€™s not blindingly obvious to me? Is he an expansionist or an antisemite? Heā€™s been in power for a long time without extending russias borders. It seems obvious that he initially preferred a peaceful solution to the decade old conflict in the Ukraineā€¦and that he was prepared to resolve the current conflict through negotiations.
Do you have any reason for saying that the hitler company is blindingly obvious?

Did you miss the whole Georgia thing? Or the invasion of Ukraine bit?

The most obvious comparison to 1938 is the call for appeasement, I would say that it wouldnā€™t be a stretch to call Putin an expansionist going on recent events, maybe his ambitions in this regard will be reached in Ukraine but how can you be sure.

Maybe heā€™s not a madman but I think he is, again just giving an opinion, I canā€™t speak factually about these things

The georgia thing? An ethnic conflict whipped up by america where the georgian government were the initial aggressors and russia responded ruthlessly? There. Now you donā€™t have to pretend you have a clue.
Rinse and repeat for Ukraine, but with infinity more western involvement, a longer back story and more attempts by russia to find a non-military solution. If you can get past the hitler inanity, and the hysteria, and the faux moralising youā€™re quite capable of understanding both the war and possible ways out of it. Youā€™ll risk the wrath of most of the forum though

What call for appeasement?
Whatā€™s your understanding of the negotiations which took place since the invasion? Consider putins expansionism in your response?

Will you ever cop on :grinning:
Itā€™s not Newsnight,
I have no response to your demand,

Youā€™re some spoofer

The modern liberal typeā€™s only frame of reference is WW2. Any geopolitical development is literally 1930ā€™s Germany or fascism. Thatā€™s how they cope or compute complex issues. Good guys and bad guys. This is literally Hitler. Youā€™ll see it flowing through numerous threads here.

I would say Iā€™m the opposite of a spoofer, I donā€™t pretend to be any more intelligent than I am, Iā€™m just making casual observations while admitting all along that Iā€™m the furthest thing from an expert.
You setting me leaving cert history questions from the year 2075 is genuinely hilarious :grinning:

Thatā€™s ok. You said you thought something and i asked why. I didnā€™t realise that itā€™s not fair

Itā€™s quite something. They see nazis everywhere until theyā€™re presented with actual genuine self declared nazis - ones wearing nazi insignia, celebrating nazi ww2 heroes and giving nazi salutes. Then they canā€™t see nazis.

This is a serious question, you donā€™t get this quality of questioning very often on TFK, or anywhere else really, bar an exam hall :+1:
