I’ve stated on numerous occassions that Putin is evil and Russia is wrong for the invasion.

You say Putin is evil. Yes he is. His regime is evil and so is the ruling ideology in Russia.

What Russia is done to Ukraine is evil, utterly evil. What Putin threatens is evil.

Ukraine is not evil. Ukraine is a young, democratic country trying to find its way in the world and make its own decisions. Just like Ireland was once.

Russia are the baddies. You admit it there. Ukraine are the goodies. They’re fighting for the freedom of their country against an imperial fascist, genocidal oppressor.

They deserve all the support the world can muster for them.

Look, i find picking sides in conflict and cheerleading for the destruction of one side a bit vulgar, Putin might be evil but not all Russians are. There are innocent men, women and children dying in Ukraine, people fighting other peoples wars, the way it always is. Russia are there illegaly.

Not all Germans were evil either.

Why on earth would you not pick sides in a conflict between an utterly evil, imperialistic, genocidal regime and a free democracy fighting for its very existence?

This is utterly black and white. A situation with clear goodies versus baddies.

If you don’t pick sides in such a situation, it demonstrates tolerance of evil.

Would you have picked sides in World War II as to who to you wanted to win?

You seem to want the total destruction of Russia for that. Its a bit of a nihilistic view of the world.

I don’t want to see the total destruction of Russia or anything like it. I want Russia to stop the war now and the only way that happens is by them voluntarily leaving every square millimetre of Ukrainian territory. Otherwise the war goes on.

I would like to see a free, prosperous and genuinely liberal democratic Russia after it has had a historical reckoning, in the same way we got a free, prosperous, democratic West Germany after 1945.

I don’t think Russia are capable of world or european domination on the scale you’re afraid of and i think you’re gone delusionsal in your need for a new hitler.

Putin is this age’s Hitler. All his rhetoric is comparable. His actions are comparable. His threats are comparable.

Russia’s domination does not even have to be in military terms. Russia has already exerted domination over the west over the last decade through informational war. It could also do so through economic war, through criminality. And military, if let.

Russia has powerful allies, all of whom are despotic regimes.

The threat of Putin’s regime is absolutely comparable to that of the Nazis.

What i think is going to happen, as appetite for the invasion diminishes in Russia, they’ll sit down for minsk 3 and the region will be given autonomy, ukraine to the west will plough on with EU membership etc and there will be a ceasefire.

There’s no room to sit down with Russia over anything as long as they claim even a square millimetre of Ukrainian territory.
