I find a lot of what you and others here post as regards this war to be an insult to humanity, to be honest. And none of this is about being a cunt or a âvirtue signallerâ or scoring points off other posters. Itâs about observable reality. Some of the views expressed on these pages as regards this war and the reasons it happened are utterly abominable and demonstrate not just wanton stupidity but a profound and systematic lack of basic human empathy. I can only assume that this group of posters have decided to become mad with the world as a consumerist lifestyle choice as a substitute for a personality.

I donât think youâre a fascist, I think youâre just somebody who has chosen to go down a rabbit hole of INTERNET-driven lifestyle contrarianism like a former sportswriter from Athy did, and become an excuse maker for a fascist regime. Youâve also tried your hardest to whip up resentment against refugees fleeing the war, and numerous other posters have called you out on it. I donât think there should be any tolerance for the deliberate whipping up of resentment against refugees. I think itâs genuinely disgusting, cheap, nasty, miserable, or whatever youâre having yourself, and causes real harm to real people.
I think that says quite a lot about a personâs true character.

I havenât. There was a debate about whether the number coming in was sustainable given the situation here. As TFK goes there was an edgy side to it, I got edgier after I was called a fascist and something about burning crosses particularly annoyed me. My intention wasnât to whip up hatred against anyone, I was more irritated at the handling by the Irish government of the people that were coming in and the people that were already here. I also donât agree with the granting of temporary protection for ALL people coming from the Ukraine. Border controls arenât there to stop decent people getting in, theyâre there to prevent people taking advantage of the situation getting in, of which there have inevitably been a lot. It seems to point out this truth makes you a monster, you and others would much prefer to bury your head in the sand to the bad side of it.
None of that is particularly controversial, I donât think anyway. People keep bringing it up as if itâs absolutely horrendous. It plainly isnât. But as i said if it makes you feel better to create boogeyman, drive on.
