Didnt have the personality for it in my opinion. Did not inspire.

they would have known that a few weeks ago when they appointed him though

Yeah. He wasn’t so outrageously bad that he only deserved 4 months in the job. Hibs appointed him because they bought into his philosophy and then seemed to have abandoned that vision at the first challenge.

Mark McGhee isn’t the full shilling. He’s starving himself to get his squad motivated.

“I’m going to tell you something really silly. I was trying to make a point with this with Charlie on Monday and he ended up taking the mickey out of me.

“There are two things I’m doing this week to focus us on getting the win. The first thing, I’ve gone on a diet so I’m hungry all the time.

“I can then ask myself why am I hungry – and I am hungry because there is a big game on Saturday.

“The second thing I’m doing, and I’ve also told Charlie I am doing this, I won’t be using any heating. So I will be cold.

“I then ask myself why am I cold – and I can say because of the game on Saturday.

“It’s not the two things of being cold and hungry but it’s the principle of it because I am asking my own players to make this game as important in their own minds. I want them to focus on the game and this is what I am doing to make sure they are focused.

"For the rest of this week I will be on this strict diet and I won’t use the heating.

“When I get here on Saturday not only will I feel I’ve done everything but I’ll also be able to feel I’ve given everything.

“So I might feel more deserving of a good result. That’s the way the players need to think.

“We need the players to change – if they keep doing the same things as they have done it’s the Einstein adage that if you keep doing the same things and expect a different outcome then it is madness.

“You have to change something and this is what I’ve adopted as part of the process. Charlie says I’m off my head.”

The huns are fast running out of time here. Nil all after 35 minutes but they must know they realistically need to win by 6 or 7 today or their title defence will look very shaky indeed.

Oh we’re in trouble now.

Hibs have settled on a shortlist of names to replace Shaun Maloney with former Sunderland boss Lee Johnson in the mix.

He joins Michael Appleton and Karl Robinson in a small handful of names identified by Ben Kensell and Ian Gordon.

Hibs have been looking for a new boss since parting with Maloney in December.

Johnson held successful talks with Kensell and Gordon in London earlier this month.

He has now been put forward to the final shortlist and now he has to convince chairman Ian Gordon and other board members that he is the outstanding candidate.

Gordon and the Hibs hierarchy are scheduled to hold all their final interviews this week and then be in a position to name their new manager.

Johnston is no stranger to Scotland as he had two spells up here as a player, ironically, with city rivals Hearts and Kilmarnock.

The 40-year-old, whose long-term No. 2 is Scot Jamie McAllister, has also had spells in charge at Oldham Athletic and Barnsley.

Appleton was interviewed for the Hibs’ job before Jack Ross but he pulled out of the running.

He quit Lincoln after three seasons this summer.

Appleton has also had spells at the helm of Blackpool, Blackburn and Leicester City.

The Hibs board met several high profile candidates including Paul Clement and Phillip Cocu, but they won’t be in the final shake-up.

Meanwhile, Hibs have agreed a pre-contract with Scotland keeper David Marshall.

The deal was agreed by former boss Shaun Maloney before he was shown the Easter Road door.

Maloney and Marshall were close from their their time with Celtic and Scotland but they won’t get the chance to work together.

Marshall’s Derby County contract is due to expire in the summer and then he head to the capital to become one of the new Hibs manager’s summer signings.

He was deemed surplus to requirements at Derby and spent the second half of the season at Queen’s Park Rangers.

Biggest day in the domestic calendar in Scotland today, I see. How is it going jockos?

Thanks for the update. Enjoy your big day.

I will if the huns lose.

Bassey is a good player.

2 goals in as many minutes for the scum. There will be talk of bravery and heroics from the hun pundits but the truth is Hearts are just utter shite.

Great character and resilience from the Teddy Bears to dig deep and win that. I would have thought for all the world after facing injury time in the searing heat of Seville less than 72 hours ago, that the Jambos were nailed on to win once it went to extra time.

The second half of normal time was as one sided a game as I’ve ever seen. Huns should have won at a canter.
