I am a sporting a beard since Christmas. Just shave it to line with the apple every now and then.

They say when you’re growing a beard you should let it grow out fully for at least 5/6 weeks before trimming it or tidying it up a bit. Supposedly this is the crucial bit that alot of lads don’t realise, and that they’d be arsing with it 3/4 weeks in and ruin it. Is there any truth in this?

That’s what I did and it’s now in fine fettle.

I dunno man, it depends on the person.

Some lads [especially those with black hair] look like they have a full beard after a week.
Other lads just can’t grow a decent beard even if they haven’t shaved in a month.

I have gone a couple of months without shaving. That has been about my limit.
I grow a semi-good beard but it could always be better.

Ah no but sure if you’re doing it at all you need to do it right. Ideally i’d work it around my holidays. Let it grow for two weeks at work and then head off on two weeks holiday so that while it’s in it’s shittiest form i’m away from work. I could mess with it then a week or two after coming back…

How long would yours be pike, would you go for a trim sort of a look?

A disturbingly wrong story from a few months back that I was just reminded of:

I was on my own in the apartment one Wednesday evening watching a Champions League game when I heard a knock at the door. Usually, I’d ignore it but, for some reason, I thought Clarkey or Jugs might have forgotten their key and strolled out and opened the door.

Anyway, I was met by the sight of this gormless looking, fat cunt, wearing no shoes and carrying a bag of take-away food standing there. He had a lazy eye too. He told me some spurious story about living in the apartment across the way and how he’d gotten himself locked out when he went down to pay for some Chinese food he ordered for delivery.

There was some smell of sweat off the cunt. He said he planned to leave his door a little ajar but it must have closed behind him and he was locked out and had no phone and was wondering if he could come in. He wanted to eat his food in my gaff and then ring his housemate to get him to come home and let him in.

I was pretty stunned and it was a really awkward situation to be in as the last thing I wanted was to let this sweaty, probable rapist into the apartment. He made a comment about how hospitable I was after a while and then said I had nice eyes. At this stage, I was well freaked out trying to avoid making any eye contact with him as he sat there making horrific sounds while eating his curry. I was staring right ahead at the TV screen and concentrating on the game, as much as I could, when he piped up and asked me if I wanted him to make me copies of the entire series of Entourage and Desperate Housewives. I said it was fine and he let out a shriek and yelled, ‘Oh behave!’

Eventually, he called his housemate using my phone and about a half an hour later some other freak arrived back to let him in. I was never more relieved in my life when he went but then there was another knock around 20 minutes later. Once bitten, twice shy so I looked out the peep hole and saw the same cunt standing there and went back into the living room and ignored him.

Anyway, I went back out a few minutes later and there was a disc on the floor, which he’d shoved under the door, with an accompanying note. The post it read, ‘Thanks for earlier - just give a knock on my door if you ever want a massage’.

Sick bastard - who the fuck knows what was really on that disc?

Last year after Christmas it was a huge bush of a yoke before I got rid of it around March.
Keep trimming it every few days now.

It’s very similar to Pep Guardiola actually Dunph.
Grew it in honour of the man.

I cleaned my beard up from the monstrosity it was in to an actual beard a couple of weeks back.

Today, I did what I have threatened for a long time to do but never had the cojones.

Handlebar moustache. I’m happy with how it turned out. It is not perfect but it is quite good.
I’m delighted to be compared to James Hetfield.

Give us an actual pic there CLD, do you plan on keeping the handlebar tache long? Most people only grow those as a novely thing.

I used to use that and the King of Shaves stuff. Think they fuck up your blades a bit. Not really sure why I’ve given up on the oil stuff but I can’t settle on any sort of tolerable shaving system at all.
