No. Dessie was shot between Freshford and Urlingford. As a side. Don’t ever mix up Urlingford Freshford and Threecastles. Believe you me, I learned the hard way.
I know where the pitch is alright. It’s Urlingford and Johnstown I always mix up.
I’ve a couple of great pals in Threecastles, I know that’s not particularly interesting but they’d be the only people I’d be in touch with in Kilkenny and it’s a tiny place
Chances are either myself and or the wife know them. Best pint of porter in the county as well (Campions)
There’s a pub near there, the Rock Bar I think it is - I’ve never been in there but I always liked the look of it passing.
It’s a nice pub alright. It’s gone through about 7 different owners in the last ten years. Was very popular before the drink driving laws were tightened up. Lads sipped in there before my wedding.
Ya has the look of that kind of place alright, out on its own. You’d wonder how many of those kind of spots the Covid will kill off completely.
It was on dodgy ground before the covid anyway. Relying predominantly on B&B . It gets a bit of a hit around the Crimbo with the hunt brigade gathering there.
Unlike you Harry, I don’t think I’ve ever driven that road.
I live pretty much equi distant from Threecastles, Freshford and Tullaroan. When we moved here first, I believed there was a benign relationship between Freshford and Threecastles in GAA matters, I learned that not the case.
As an aside Threecastles were always very generous with their pitch for camogie matches and the clubhouse always had hot water
Would hot water be unusual in Kilkenny?
It would still be unusual for many’s a clubhouse showers around the country
Young lads rarely shower after training in the clubhouse anymore.
I see them almost all turning up togged out except for throwing on a pair of boots and doing the reverse when it’s over.
Four or five lads might use the changing rooms at most.
They now have hot water at home in Kilkenny
It’s hard do the grooming needed in a dirty aul changing room and communal shower.
They stopped winning All Irelands after they got the hot water.
Looking at young fellas wearing ‘retro’ jerseys. Or seeing them being sold online now everywhere.
Feels like yday I was wearing some of them as a kid.

Guaranteed no one in Cavan goes home to shower and run up the electric bill.
Hearing Nik Kershaw on radio 1. Christ the rows I used to have with the aul lad over putting on radio 2 back in the day
