Should divisional teams be in all Ireland club championships?

Kerry would have bigger GAA playing populations than the likes of Tyrone and Mayo yet they only have 8 senior clubs in their championship. They have an unfair advantage at junior and intermediate level.

Did Beaufort win the 2018 kerry championship and the 2019 junior all Ireland?

They’d be expected to, Kerry teams at junior and intermediate level should be winning the AI every year as they enjoy an unfair advantage over other clubs.

It’s about time the GAA told Kerry they can’t put representatives forward at junior and intermediate level when they only have 8 clubs in their senior Championship. Imagine Dublin had the likes of Ballymun playing intermediate this year or St Brigids playing junior?

It is a bit weird how the only teams competing at the very top end in Kerry tend to be town teams or divisional teams. In most other counties rural clubs would make up a fair proportion of the better teams

The population of Beaufort is 280 people. If the 33rd best club in Dublin can’t beat they should take up another sport.

It’s very much a closed shop in Kerry, the status quo is not to be changed.

What’s the population of Ballintubber?

Yes because rural in kerry is actually rural. Where there is almost no young people. Rural Ireland is a myth in most counties.

Not any more rural than Mayo, Galway or Donegal

So is rural Donegal and rural Mayo and rural Tyrone.

The population density of Tyrone is 50 per square kilometer. In kerry it’s 30.

And there’s 60-70k of a Protestant population in Tyrone which will not go near a GAA pitch only to torch it.

How many times have you been to kerry?

What’s your point?

Kerry is no more rural than other GAA counties. Why are their rural clubs so shit?

Rathmore were relegated from senior this year. Not sure of its population but seemed to be punching above its weight for a good few years to be consistently top 8 in Kerry.

Name the counties there where rural clubs would make up a fair proportion of the better teams.

So if Kerry has a population of 147k and circa 40k of that is serviced by 7 clubs in Tralee and Killarney then you would have a population of around 107k serviced by 66 remaining clubs, I don’t see how the rural clubs should be doing so poorly in contrast to other counties.

Mayo champions are Ballintubber
Galway champions Corofin
Donegal champions Glenties

Isn’t An Gaeltacht a massive club?

He said most counties, the vast majority of top clubs would be rural. I’m interested to see which counties the majority of top clubs are rural in. You can add Kilkenny and ballyhale. That’s four clubs in four counties.
