Should divisional teams be in all Ireland club championships?

How many in Killarney?

I think there’ll be divisional sides in dublin senior champo in next 5 to 10 years if the likes of boden and crokes keep growing…

Three. Dr Crokes, Legion and Spa.

Every senior championship should only have 8 clubs in my opinion. Quicker to run off championships too. 32 senior teams in tipp is the biggest joke of all.

What championship level are Spa, Na Gaeil, John Mitchells at?

16 teams, straight knockout would be ran off in 4 weeks.

Gas

Fucking

One thing that’s curious in Tipperary is how Carrick-on-Suir with a population of just over 5,000 has three clubs (one admittedly in Waterford) and none of the three are ever worth a fuck.

Does Thurles have any club other than Sarsfields? Thurles would be a good bit bigger than Carrick.

How does the league effect championship in Tyrone?

League position determines championship status via direct promotion and playoffs.

Effectively the 16 teams competing in Div 1 in Tyrone next year will be the 16 teams who partake in senior championship next year.

Big towns would generally have soccer and rugby clubs too.

Can you get relegated if you are county champions?

Thurles has another club but it may as well not. Carrick Swan should be better. The Davins are a very small club really and do fairly well with what they have (won the junior at the weekend)

So technically you could win this years championship but be relegated if you’ve a shit league?

It’s never happened, I’d imagine there would be some provision for it not to happen.

Trillick won a senior county championship 12 months after they lost the intermediate final.

Its not a joke at all. 16 senior A, 16 senior B. If you are a senior B team and win your division you get a go at a preliminary quarter final in the A part. Mullinahone did that this year and brought Toome to extra time in that game. They couldn’t even make the senior B final afterwards.

Borris-Ileigh and Clonoulty won the last two county titles. Any senior A team would fancy themselves to beat either of those teams on their day. It works well

And how many league games during the year would county players be released for?

I think it’s around 8 non-starred rounds out of the 15 league rounds.

Edit: Think it’s actually 10.

So 5 of the 15 league rounds would have no county player involvement.

I think Tipp will continue to be really competitive into the next decade with Kildangan, Kilruane, Clonoulty, BorrisIlegh and Drom all very well set with already established teams with plenty young players coming through from underage.

Thurles and Nenagh will always be strong, Thurles especially have a serious crop coming through.

Holycross, JK Brackens and Moycarkey all have young senior teams who will hope to crack into the big leagues. Toome and Roscrea aswell.

Senior b should be intermediate in tipp.
