I’d be fairly sure every single member of every single iteration of the IRA for the last 100 plus years has had the tricolour draped over their coffin when they died. It’s hardly worthy of comment let alone being one of the main planks of his speech.

Harris is correct that the tricolour needs to be reclaimed. However it’s not the dissos who it needs to be reclaimed from, because basically nobody supports them. We all know who the threat is, it’s the fascists who fly the tricolour while spreading fake rape rumours and spitting in the faces of women and children refugees and chanting “OUT, OUT, OUT”. The same tricolour waving fascists who are ultimately loyal to the English far right and the worst of Loyalism.
But the die is cast on that one. The tricolour will take on an increasing toxicity similar to how the English flag has done. The online forces which dictate that are too great.
