Irish greens are lefty headbangers

I mean this is kind of irrelevant. We were a Catholic country so the key was conservative social policy.

FF were a left wing party on the matters of public spending and styled themselves as such.

The prime voting age 50+ would be mad to vote in anything but ffg. They are very comfortable and want the ladder pulled up after em… Probably be another 10 + years if we are to see a seismic change in Ireland

FF and FG are still not polling well.

Their combined polling numbers was nearly 70% in 2007.

What the lads who go on about FFG miss is by making them a combined entity, you are making them harder to shift.

I did my masters thesis on political cartoons/ posters from the 1930s

Very entertaining (the posters, not the thesis) we were a real country then etc etc :man_shrugging:

They just spent consecutive governments in power together…but the lads on the internet who call them ffg are the problem :person_shrugging:t2:

I completely agree with that. There is no real middle ground anymore, just various shades of left.

C&S is not government.

Nothing to do with it being a problem, but be careful what you wish for.

Dullards who both talked about Civil War politics (weird how Provisional SF are never referenced there, telling really) but also how they are the same.

Traditionally they didn’t transfer to one another. Now they will.

They’re both bloody as bad as each other, monopoly
Bad n all as I view them
It’s the Greens that boil my pish
They’ve propped up this nonsensical group of loo lahs for fat too long,
Personal opinion a SF( majority) / FF coalition would be a decent alternative
NO GREENS whatsoever though,
Country needs a change,
Our young university graduates etc etc need to know that any future Ireland needs them here,
Instead of emigrating to OZ etc,
We’re going to suffer a huge brain drain
if kids can’t see a future here,
They need affordable housing.
HSE are driving our nurses,Doctors ,OTs etc out of our country annually,
Hiring in excellent but costly foreign workers,
ATM we can’t manage without them but FFS our own should at least have a glimmer of hope ref employment/ affordable housing,
This great house build we’ve been promised can’t come about with our own work force as we’re not giving out enough apprenticeships and having been.

At least up north they continued to give full apprenticeships to those who couldn’t get an employer to take them on
Training centres turned out thousands but obviously majority had to move away as the economic there has never been great ref construction industry.
But at least the young that weren’t academics had a choice in getting a trade instead of being lumbered in menial work locally,
They could f off and make a life for themselves abroad
Down here there’s no excuse for our buffoons up in Leinster house not to bloody start a serious apprenticeship body now to get prepared for the huge housing projects on the cards
Excuse my long winded ramble
But I’ve got a kid that’s going to be away in a few years
One grandkid in Perth
Another 2 in Queens university that are going ASAP
We’re losing our best n brightest,
Majority won’t return!

The greens boil your piss ? Is it because you hate kids having a liveable future?

The Green Party has made significant progress on a wide range of policies in the current Irish government, focusing on environmental, social, and infrastructure reforms. Here’s a summary of their key achievements:

Public Transport Expansion:

DART+: This project is currently in the planning and consultation phase, aimed at extending the DART service to Drogheda, Maynooth, and Hazelhatch, with increased frequency and electrification by 2025.

MetroLink: The MetroLink project, which will connect Swords to Dublin City Centre, has completed the preliminary business case and is moving toward construction in the coming years.

Rural Bus Routes: Over 67 new rural bus routes have been introduced as part of the Connecting Ireland plan, enhancing connectivity and reducing reliance on private vehicles in rural areas.

Childcare Costs: The Green Party has driven a 50% reduction in childcare fees by increasing subsidies under the National Childcare Scheme, making early years education more affordable for families across Ireland.

Free Contraception: In 2022, the Greens helped roll out free contraception for women aged 17-30, improving access to reproductive healthcare services.

Wind Energy Auctions: Under the Green Party’s leadership, the first offshore wind energy auctions were conducted as part of the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS). This is a critical step toward meeting Ireland’s climate goals of 80% renewable energy by 2030.

Free School Books: From the 2023 academic year, all primary school students receive free school books, a major achievement that reduces the financial burden on families.

Climate Action Plan: The Green Party was integral to the passage of the Climate Action Plan, which sets ambitious goals to reduce carbon emissions by 51% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Carbon Budgets: The introduction of legally binding carbon budgets is a major milestone. These set limits on greenhouse gas emissions over specific periods to ensure Ireland meets its climate targets.

National Retrofitting Scheme: The Green Party has led the National Retrofit Programme, which provides grants for homeowners to make their homes more energy-efficient, contributing to emission reductions and lowering energy bills.

Bike Infrastructure: There has been a significant increase in funding for cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, with numerous new bike lanes and greenways constructed across the country.

Nature Restoration: The Green Party has advanced policies for the restoration of natural habitats and biodiversity, including funding for rewilding projects and the expansion of national parks.

Marine Protected Areas: The Green Party has played a crucial role in expanding Ireland’s marine protected areas, which now cover approximately 10% of Irish waters.

Public Sector Remote Working: The Greens have supported the widespread adoption of remote working policies, especially in the public sector, which has reduced commuting and carbon emissions.

Plastic Waste Reduction: The Green Party has introduced measures to combat plastic waste, including the implementation of a Deposit Return Scheme for plastic bottles and aluminum cans, set to launch in 2024.

Sick Leave Law: They have supported the introduction of statutory sick pay, ensuring all workers have access to paid sick leave.

Just Transition Fund: The Green Party has been instrumental in allocating funding through the Just Transition Fund, aimed at supporting communities and workers in sectors transitioning away from fossil fuels, like peat extraction.

These achievements reflect the Green Party’s strong focus on sustainability, social equity, and climate action within the Irish government.

Are they going to still send you lads out to bat with these lines? Using your grandkids wanting to go on the piss as your route to power?

The public aren’t all that thick. Your USP was appealing to the racists.

In regards to his apprenticeship pointUnder the current Irish government, the expansion and modernization of the apprenticeship system has been a major focus. Key achievements include:

Creation of New Apprenticeship Programs: The government has expanded apprenticeship offerings beyond traditional sectors, creating new programs in green energy, technology, finance, and healthcare. This is part of the broader goal to diversify apprenticeships and attract more people from various backgrounds.

Apprenticeship Action Plan 2021-2025: This plan aims to increase annual apprenticeship registrations to 10,000 by 2025. It includes the introduction of 62 new apprenticeship programs, many of which are focused on emerging industries such as cybersecurity, data science, and biopharma.

Inclusive Apprenticeships: The government has placed emphasis on increasing the diversity of apprentices, with particular focus on women and underrepresented groups. This includes initiatives to encourage female participation in traditionally male-dominated fields such as construction and engineering.

Apprenticeship Incentivization Scheme: Employers have been encouraged to take on more apprentices through a grant of €3,000 per new apprentice to support businesses.

Apprenticeship to Higher Education Pathways: New pathways have been developed that allow apprentices to continue into higher education, facilitating the transition from apprenticeship into degree programs.

Green Skills Apprenticeships: Several new apprenticeships have been developed to support the government’s green agenda, such as programs focused on sustainable building practices, renewable energy, and retrofitting.

These developments reflect the government’s focus on modernizing the apprenticeship system to meet the needs of a growing and diversifying economy.

It’s pretty funny that you give out about the greens, and call them nonsensical loolahs, and then give out about the future facing your children and subsequent generations.

Personally I don’t give a flying fuck what you think

Back at you. But voters like you are the reason younger generations are screwed and will be more screwed. And you’ll come on here then whingeing about the greens, and they probably the only political party in Ireland looking to the future.
