Hopefully the DPC fines the fuck out of them all.
My take on this - political party “activists” are generally strange fish . Political journalists are not dissimilar .
I repeat, this is gas. It’s like a group brawl now with fists flying everywhere. Philip Ryan, Indo, sets out to damage SF. Turns out they’re mostly all at it. Hugh O’Connell, Indo, would in theory be coming from the same place as Ryan but, of course, he’s married to Kate O’Connell’s sister. She naturally would have been very put out to be cast aside for James Geoghegan so we get this tweet from O’Connell. I’m not sure I’d call it subtle but it’s a layered dig at Geoghegan. You carried out fake polling AND you fucked off to Renua with Creighton to do it before coming back with you tail between your legs. Or something like that.
People interested in politics outside of looking for favours or internet wummery need their head examined.
Half of this site is in the latter category
SFers have a real issue with Ryan but it seems to be that scrutiny is their biggest one.
Ryan is a bit of a clown but is an equal opportunities one.
I don’t think that’s true tbf. An equal opportunities one would have mentioned that other parties have done it too. His article yesterday made it sound like it was exclusive to sf. The same narrative was pushed about people calling to doors after social media criticism, it was shown to have happened in FG also for example but again was presented as a practice exclusive to SF.
There’s plenty of things unique to sf they could be concentrating on if they want to critique.
Policy wonks are weirdos
if he was an equal opportunities clown he wouldve been able to peg all the other parties for the same conduct in the story
Nah. I’m sure he has just been engrossed in SF and got that info. He tweeted and reported swiftly about the other parties. Is that poor journalism, maybe? But that’s all it is.
His reporting on relations between the government and NPHET have been heavily biased towards NPHET, attacking the government for not taking NPHET’s line. On hotel quarantine for example, he attacked Varadkar and Coveney, saying they’d have blood on their hands and then wrote a piece about “millionaire” brother of Coveney attacking MHQ.
SF have a victim mentality over journalists scrutinising them.
Go back to the violence in West Belfast in April. The narrative - put out there by both Loyalists and by SF - for different reasons - Loyalists have a vested interest in playing the poor mouth and playing the victim, SF and their support have a vested interest in claiming they are delivering things they are not - is that Catholic, SF controlled areas are galloping ahead and prosperous while Protestant areas are falling behind and in dire straits. Yet the truth is that the poorest areas of the North are still overwhelmingly Catholic. So the narrative is NOT true.
His abuse from the bots was so bad that even Aoife Moore took to Twitter to defend him.
I’m still laughing at Eoin O’Dim on Pat Kenny yesterday saying it was not deception to send lads with fake IDs to people’s homes.
SFFG.
GDPR came into force in 2018 I think. Is that the main regulation that the DPC would be able to investigate under?
theres the various data protection acts that preceded GDPR
So what started as SF pile on has ended up turning into a FFG kicking?
About 100 posts of pure scutter here - except @Juhniallio who as usual on politics has a decent grasp of what’s what.
Every party has its share of crooks, chancers and idiots. The classic ‘dolers’ and ‘scum’ comments flying about from the usual suspects shows how utterly out of touch they are with the reality of the newer SF supporter. They’ve capitalized massively on the u35 bracket across many sections of society… When Sorcha started on to me and dual-system feminism, and Fiachra referred to his partner as ‘they’ and ‘them’ I knew it was time to get out.
Some legislation before that but less teeth.
Interesting thing would be if this data is still retained in which case they could go after them under recent laws that have teeth.
