Sinn Fein - Populism and Partionism

SF need to attack the system driving Landlords out of the system.

Attack FF/FG about making policy function and fixing the issues.

Attacking the Gardai is irresponsible and downright shit.

They’re clearly attacking the government and their use of the Gardai to evict people.

A serious amount of waffle.

I think the really short sighted and naive person sees it as a dig at the guards rather than the government and the current state of play

Indeed but it’s also drumming up hatred of the Gardai. Not the smartest tweet given SF’s history with the police, but not as bad as the FG and FF bots are making out either.

It’s also very clear from the tweet that SFIRA believe the eviction ban should last indefinitely. As was already said on here before - that’s another reason landlords are selling up before SFIRA take power.

His tweet will increase the number of landlords selling. Maybe that’s what he wants.

You’d have to say reality is drumming up hatred of the Gardai then.

The balaclavas were only introduced when the water meter protestors decided to intimidate individual Gardai when were only guilty of doung their jobs, caught in the middle by questionable government policy that they have to follow of choose another career.

Believing the eviction ban should last indefinitely is a completely legitimate position to take. You don’t have to agree with it. It’s up to people who disagree with that position to come up with a narrative to demonstrate why it’s a mistaken position, if they believe so.

More than likely. Most politicians with designs on power want things to get worse under governments because it means more votes for them. Sinn Fein are about getting power and keeping power. But it doesn’t mean that that tweet showed an offensive image, it didn’t.

The only political parties who actually seem to have a genuine desire throughout their membership that things get better for everybody are the Greens, Labour, maybe the Social Democrats.

Labour are a joke. Is it a million houses they said they’d build. They can’t even take themselves seriously enough to pretend their promises are in any way meaningful.

Everybody else is a joke too then, because all politicians say stuff and then don’t deliver.

Labour at least have a track record where they’ll try to benefit the country as best they can. Most of the best governments in the history of the state have contained Labour.

Labour have a track record of saying stuff and not delivering alright. Bacik seems to be leaning into that. This million houses target is not even vaguely credible. They’re a joke and they’re taking up space that could be effectively used by greens or soc dems.

They’re on the record in wanting to just delay it a few months so there will be alternative accommodation, no? Of course that is deliberate and cynical as evictions ALWAYS leads to homelessness. It doesn’t matter what condition the housing situation is in in a country- the use of that kind of imagery for cheap points is nasty but there is a captive audience for that shit.

It’s satire. It’s allowed in a democratic country.

Stop your crying you big girl.

You think EOB is actually making a joke out of evictions?

Who said that?

You need to calm down, youre hysterical.

I’m just asking you why it’s acceptable to make jokes about evictions?

I’ve yet to see anyone make a joke about it.

Literally every political party in the world has.
