I have never seen an SCT captain MILF

I don’t understand Trimble dropping out Have we cover for the back 3? Doesn’t look like it to me? We have 2 replacement stand offs on the fcuking bench?

Why isn’t Sexton on the team anyway? Paddy Wallace is perfect on the bench as he covers 2 positions, it makes no sense to have either Sexton or ROG on bench so 1 must start and 1 must go imo. Sexton has done nothing wrong in an Ireland shirt, ROG on the other hand has never done anything right in Paris- its a no brainer !

Ya, Garryduff, very close to Rochestown, Church of Ireland Hockey play there. Played soccer there a few times as well, lovely place, lovely pitches.

Wallace ain’t a ten so makes sense to have Sexton on the bench imo as he can change our gameplan whereas Wallace is only a makeshift ten. Wallace can add a bit of creativity to the side so I’d have him in the 22 ahead of Trimble (I would have both starting mind). Given the team Kidney picked I think he had to leave Trimble out of the 22.

No. O Gara was not responsible for Ireland winning the Grand Slam last year because he got the winning drop goal. It was an easy enough drop goal he converted - no more than what you would expect from any International fly half, he was just doing the nuts and bolts of his job within the team. O Gara did not do something above the norm of what is expected, it was a routine drop goal, regardless of the pressure of the grand slam. Brian O Driscoll has regularly won games for “Ireland” on his own, through breathtaking exploits way above the norm for an International centre.

The original point about O Connell must be looked at in the same context. O Connell in this instance failed to field a routine restart. He performed below even what an average second rower should aspire to in this situation. He was not asked to chase down a flying Welsh wing, with a 5 metre head start nor was he asked to win a lineout against the throw to save the game, he was merely tasked with taking a restart competently, which he failed to do. He did not complete the basic requirements for an International second rower in this particular instance.

I just hope the Leinster lads can exert their influence on Saturday’s game, like they did last year against the French - if so then we might have a chance of getting a result despite the lunacy of the team selection.

Incorrect. The ball was presented to him quickly on numerous occasions but, as WBY so correctly stated, his base response is to stall, slow things down and wait for some stupid Munster cunt to pick and drive again. It’s such a risk averse, boring gameplan and, while I was delighted for the Leinster born players when we won the Grand Slam last year, I well understood why neutrals and non-Irish pundits lamented the paucity of ambition we displayed and indeed continue to display.
