Six Nations Rugby 2018

Comparison with the french currently isnt really a good comparison as they are a shambles.

NZ had 11 guys 30 or over (and 3 x 29 year olds) in their RWC 2015 squad.

Fuck up.

Make me you fucking prick.

Sorry bro, I flew off the handle there.

I genuinely don’t know what came over me.

That was in the world cup year tho? What age are those over 30s exactly?

Joint 5th in a 20 team tournament. Competition was so intense, hosts, former winners and three time finalists England didn’t even make it out of the group stages to the last 8.

You’re dead to me

I’ll cut you, you fucking prick.

Ireland live day to day. The coaches future is based on success in the six nations and the autumn test matches. The World Cup tends to be a distraction.

Theres a lovely flow to that post.

IRFU need a successful 6 nations in order to keep the provinces (Munster) going. The French and English unions dont have players in their employment so 6 nations success is unimportant. The French have a 19 yeat old who has hardly played for his club on the panel for the weekend. They are planning for the World Cup. Ireland cant afford to do this. Therefore Ireland have a bit of success in the group stages but then collapse in the knockout stages beacause of the limited number of experienced players

I hope Ireland go on to win loads of six nations tournaments.

It’s a perverse business model - focus on results in friendlies to the detriment of performances in competitive matches.

Very peculiar. Banking results from friendlies to cover up competitive failings. Surely not a sustainable economic model?

But the world cup is just a series of friendlies as well?

But fans are turning up in their droves. Even lads who used to hate rugby are coming back. I believe @Rocko will be watching the game on Saturday on a big screen with a load of lads.

So the lack of ambition has always been there?

Huh? This is the Championship, along with British Lions tours, the biggest ticket in international rugby.
