Players are not there. Can’t blame it all on the coach. Irish rugby public were spoiled for 5 years by the over achievement under Coach Schmidt.
England have a superb side as well.

Ireland went down fighting against a superior force. To put it in perspective, the 12 points Ireland lost by today was the same margin that New Zealand lost to England by in the World Cup.
Changes are needed though. Most if not all of the over 30 brigade could be replaced now. Lot of mileage on the clock and struggling with the pace of the international game now.
Luckily Gerry has a trip to Paris in the springtime to keep the spirits high

Scruff Thornley tipped England in his match preview yesterday. He feared the worst.
We need to import some new players . The ones we have now aren’t good enough . I’d try looking around the Australia coast and see if we can nationalise any rugby player . If we could pick up a Fiji winger too be a big help ,I heard they’re fast and strong lads .
For what its worth, my assessment:
- Sexton had a freakishly bad day with his kicking, which cost the team at least 5 points;
- the first two English tries were down to freak Irish errors. That made the difference if 14 points.
- England were far better than Ireland but if things had been slightly different Ireland still could have won;
- I think Ireland will put it right up to France, even if France are far better. That French team are specialists in failure. Ireland are mentally very strong.

Only just catching up on this now. The men and women both hammered. At least the women have the valid excise of professionals v amateurs.

It was only 6 months ago they were world no.1 and were going to win the world cup according to a lot of lads on here. A few friendly victories distorted how Shit they are.

It was the rugby once every fours years soccer crew that were tipping Ireland to win the World Cup and even talking of logistics of homecomings and parades with the William Webb Ellis Cup. Bless their childlike enthusiasm and naivety.
Rugby men like @gilgamboa were forever pointing out that Ireland had the draw from hell in the quarter finals and were really up against it for advancement beyond there - facing one of the two best sides in the world, the two traditional superpowers of the sport at international level, New Zealand or South Africa.
No talking to them sure.
A bad day at the office yday but fortress Twickenham is a tricky place to get a result
Since the emergence of England as a modern day power in international rugby in the late 1980’s, they’ve only lost 9 of their last 74 Championship matches at Twickenham. Ireland have accounted for 5 of those losses, Wales and France, 2 wins each. Scotland recorded the last of their 4 wins at Twickenham in 1983 and Italy have never won there. It’s a very tough place for any visiting team.

I think we’ve moved beyond that now — i’m trying to let the rubby thing go and i’d urge other fellas to as well as we build a new united Ireland … I’ll always detest Munster but that’s different. Ireland’s call is a crock of shit but what do you suggest? —amhran na bhfiann may have to be binned in the new united Ireland.
