Sleep - a thread to document your sleeping habits

Not really. More worried I’ll be in too frazzled state to do a good job. Plus a big side effect of insomnia is crankiness so you have to load up on sugary coffee or work hard to avoid biting somones head off. Doable but further exhausting.

Woke at 7 this morning after going to bed at 1:30. I’d consider that a solid night’s sleep

Im working on something at the moment that is by a distance the most difficult issue Iv ever encountered. It is a massive problem in our business that my boss and I inherited but have had to spend 300+ hours each so far this year trying to resolve.

I will fall asleep within 5 mins of bed every night but wake at 4.30 and start thinking about what i need to do for the day ahead. Carnage.

I have a plan though…and in another few weeks this will be done and the cunt at the other side of it will be bailing water out of the boat

Ride the boss to get out of it?

Thats the run of it alright. I’ve been through insomnia enough times that i know it wont kill me at this stage so when it does visit it me these days (rarely) i dont reflect it too much.

The few bits have helped over the years… get plenty of day light early in the day. A walk in the morning sets up the circadian rhythms nicely. Regular magnesium and zinc and plenty physical exercise during the day but not too late.

One other thing highly worth doing… use the free VHI therapy sessions that most lads here have on their corporate health plans. Alot of the time there is a reason we behave the way we do. @gilgamboa do you reckon your boss lies awake from 4am worrying about the same task? Possibly not…

Ah now

I would have done that months ago if it was an exit route. Wouldnt even have asked him to shave his beard

At the moment he does id say. But I get the point.

You lucky, lucky bastard

What’s the optimal sleep cycle you should be aiming for? The Garmin is telling me that I got 30 mins deep sleep, 1.50mins REM and 5 hours light sleep…
