You’re flying it mate

Maybe exercising too much??
Using the phone at bedtime?
Maybe it’s a real problem for you, a lot of people don’t help themselves, like in all aspects o life, but sleep is very important

As my mother used to say to me, an hour of sleep before midnight is worth two after it

It’s just something I’ve always struggled with. It’s honestly not an issue anymore I’m used to being awake most of the time

There are fellas sleeping 8 hours and unknowingly choking for oxygen half the night and think they are grand. Sleep quality is important too.

Are you getting any sort of a 3-4 block of sleep at all? If you are then that’s where alot of the healing occurs.

You should pull out all the stops to improve that situation.
It’ll genuinely improve your lifestyle massively. Have you read,/listened widely, consulted professionals?

Ah the TFK Sleep forum?

David Baddiel has a free show on audible about this. He’s always struggled with sleep.

One of the pieces of advice was if you find yourself lying in bed awake at night unable to sleep then get up and out of bed

Worth a listen

I gave all my early teens and most of my twenties consulting every professional I could find. I radically changed my health situation, both mental and physical (I was close to obese when I was 19). I’ve recently almost completely kicked alcohol. I’ve improved just about everything. Sleep just seems to be one of those things I can’t master.

@KinvarasPassion yeah I get 4-5 hours most nights. Every few weeks I’ll get an 8, or even a 9 hour sleep and that tends to do me

Hit the road so pal.

Exact same as me. It’s a lifelong struggle, but by fuck the feeling you get after a good night is unbeatable. I’m sur eyouve read the books and podcasts. It’s finally an area that thought is being seriously put into, after being ignored throughout doctor training for centuries almost. As I’ve said before, ‘sleep hygiene’ is so useless for proven insomniacs like us it’s now used to create a placebo group in tests (or whatever the term is)

I’ll fall asleep in cinemas, saunas, on the couch but if I lie down and want to, forget about it

I’m the opposite, I can never ever sleep unless I’m lying down, which is a curse as well.
I once took Valium for a 16 hour train ride in Asia, I hallucinated with tiredness all the way but couldn’t let go, one of the worst experiences of my life

This happens to me at least once a month.

When I say fall asleep in those scenarios it’s passing out due to exhaustion, I’m jolted back awake soon after. Best time I ever had of it was 18months when I worked 3pm -11pm Monday to Friday. So never had to set an alarm. Slept like a log it took years off me age wise.
