So, who's striking today? Which Side are You On

We’re looking at a joint work project at the moment with a public sector body that includes budget for employees. In the contract they define the pension benefit as 20% of salary. You don’t hear that figure too much from union heads!

It used to be paid by the government. It’s now paid by them. So essentially the government used to pay them more. That’s a cut.

I remember backin the mid 80s (86 I think), there was obviously a strike of some sort. Students from a few of the secondary schools on Kilkenny got together and held protests at the various different schools. I don’t see any threat of that happening hear. The students seem quite content to wait it out.

If that post is representative of the damage caused by that strike then it’s imperative that schools are reopened asap.

Fucking predictive texts. No wonder these cunts at Samsung can’t get their shit together.

The money they put in they get back, not a pay cut. No one considers a pension contribution a pay cut. I can imagine my bosses looks after calling them a shower of bastards for cutting my pay after I decide to increase my pension contributions.

2008-
Government : Here’s your 200 euro a week @Mike hunt and remember I’m putting 20 quid on top into your pension for you.
2016
Government : Here’s your 200 euro a week @Mike hunt but you have to put that 20 euro into your pension from your 200.

Nett effect = minus 20 = a cut

*no other cuts or changes in contributions were included in this calculation just to keep it real simple

Is it true that the vast majority of ASTI members just want to get back to work but are being prevented from doing so by a few die hards sitting at the head of the trough?

Fixed that for u.

Ooofft.

1 so you concede it’s a cut? Fair play.

  1. Well then quit gambling with the public pension fund you sack of shit corporate lapdog government. And don’t dip into it for other ‘worthy’ projects whenever you feel like it either.

Not quite a vast majority but yes there is a large percentage of them I believe. They are currently not getting paid so it will come to a head soon hopefully.

A pension contribution is not a pay cut.

Has anybody else forked out money for night study? I have to fork out 200 notes a term plus 120 for doing the mocks. While I don’t mind the money for the mocks, I would expect some reduction in the night study fee after Christmas

Best of luck in the exams mate

Have you someone for the leaving cert? Whereabouts are you?

It is if it’s you paying it instead of the person who used to.

No junior cert. Kilkenny chief. Anyway for some reason the school is reopening tomorrow. All things considered? She will have only missed a couple of days so I’m not going to get too worked up about it

Are they?

Even though you get it back?
