55k is too much for driving a train.

Irrelevant. See my earlier point about bitter cunts wanting everyone to get a pay cut just because they did.
Very relevant in circumstances where that increase was funded by huge rises in ticket prices against a backdrop of deflation.
What about people wanting a pay increase or more favourable working conditions that don’t really have any merit? For example, train drivers or teachers?
Same bitter cunts who want a pay increase because everybody else got one.
Train driver won’t be sacked. Gets a generous pension.
How so? Lower wage workers left go, people got increments they were entitled to, this contributed to the average going up.
Are smart people like me and Art in public jobs supposed to forego our increments just because unskilled menial workers like @Nembo_Kid are struggling during a downturn?
Why shouldn’t they get a pay increase for nothing? The cost of living is going up and they have children to feed. It’s fine for you, you won’t ever have that problem.
Good. I don’t want disaffected sociopaths like @Nembo_Kid driving my trains with the lives of thousands of people in their hands.
Why don’t unions want to go to LRC?
Incorrect, we don’t want them getting a pay rise without an increase in productivity nor do we agree with putting people who have it tough enough in the real world under more pressure by taking away their mode of transport for selfish greedy reasons.
There’s a lot of jumps to conclusions there. I don’t throw my toys out of the pram if I feel underpaid or abused by my employers, if my demands aren’t met I’ll move elsewhere and find a job that I feel values it.
You seem to find it acceptable for workers in particular sectors to hold the general public to ransom in order to get benefits out of state money. I think that is morally outrageous. That’s where we fundamentally differ I guess.
You have fundamentally different morals to most people on most things, so no surprise there.
Listen - we can only compare to what their cohorts are earning as a rough guide of what’s fair … they are vastly over paid when compared to Germany, Italy, France, Holland and Spain.
They saw no hit to their wages when other public workers were being hit badly during the recession— And now they are holding the public to ransom for more money when they are over paid for their job as it is. This is especially galling when they provide a shit and over priced serviced
I’ve no problem with people, like teachers, getting a raise when it’s deserved / just
I don’t support greed, you do.
Follow this train of thought for me. No one ever gets a pay increase without a productivity increase?
You do. You support impoverishing people. Only a selfish and extremely greedy person would espouse that view.
When’s the last time you were on a train? Did it crash? How was the service shit? Trains are class. A great day out for all involved. They’re doing a bang up job and you nor any cunt will tell me different.
I don’t think objecting to an industry with an above industrial average wage holding the public to ransom to meet their wage demands is impoverishing people. It is in fact the opposite but given your rather warped view of the world, it’s hardly surprising.
Would they not be better served finding a different job if they are unhappy with their current working conditions - that is how most people operate.
They’re slower than buses in a lot of cases and cost at least double the price. Pretty shit if you ask me.
