You’ve been insulting in every incoherent rambling rattled post you’ve put up. Christ you’re all over the shop bummer
Sure I am Fooley. Any chance you’d answer a few of the questions I put to you.
Sure ask me a rational question on the topic rather than the shire about chancers like redacted
Why shouldn’t rail workers go on strike ?
I wonder what his SIPTU comrades make of his casual racism?
Firstly because they have other valid ways of lodging their greiving such as work to rule or not taking fares which hurt IE but don’t effect the travelling public.
Secondly, the lie that they haven’t got a payrise. Salaries in IE far outstripped COL and AIW during the recession. Increments are payrise.
Thirdly, infrastructure badly needs investment for safety reasons. Surely that more important than the 2.5%
Fourthly, it’s public transport. It’s there to provide transport for the public not to be an ATM for staff. The company is nearly insolvent and they continue to try and kill the golden goose. These aren’t some poor saps on zero hour contracts in Dunnes. They have some of the best pay and conditions across the EU
If it’s a public service it ought to be properly funded. Why should it be funded off of the workers backs ?
Let’s see, we’ve no money but we want to provide a service for the public ( that’s what the govt are there to do) sure well cut staff costs and shove them further down the poverty trap. Yeah that’ll work out grand.
Maybe it’s time that FG ran the country for the people and not for corporate interests.
Hardly funded off the workers back when staff costs represent 65% of total expenditure and they have some of the best paid rail staff in Europe.
Because it’s a labour intensive industry. Do you understand how companies work ?
Clearly a lot better than you
What percentage of costs should go on labour ?
Depends on lots of factors but should be lower than it is.
No answer ? Go and google it and see what’s the international norm for labour costs for a government run and owned rail company for an island the size of Ireland. That will back up your assertion that labour costs are too high.
Ps. This is a right chance to show me up.
What I’ll do is compare expenditure costs around the rail industry such as sncf deatsche Hahn and a few others. I’ll do it when I get a chance during the week.
Now now Fooley. You’ve said you understand how companies and the like work. A first principal of accounting and costs are to compare like with like. Don’t come in now with costs for a huge rail system and don’t forget to include benefits such as private healthcare and pensions etc after we get a proper comparison we can they decide if labour costs are too high in Irish rail.
The public sector in Ireland’s pay packets flew by the private in the 2000s.
But i am sure they’re jealous alright, keeping a job and moderate pay decreases is far better than the slashing of the private sector.
You used the exact same argument with bus companies, but the private bus companies are dying to get their hands on the subvented public routes.
I’m comparing rail with rail in the EU factoring in pensions & benefits. If I really wanted to hammer it home I’d also compare infrastructure expenditure Vs staff costs and possibly an average cost per journey average Vs staff costs but that would be just cruel
Ah no. You stated that staff costs were too high. Sure we’ll get to the bottom of it and see if that’s true. You can withdraw that statement otherwise.
