It’s not a new phase of possession until another Sevilla player touches it.
This is the bit that people don’t realise. You’re offisde if you gain an advantage from standing in an “offside” position and you’re only onside again when someone else from your team plays the ball and you’re no longer in an “offside” position.
So you can stand 2 yards nearer the goal in the box and allow the ball be passed to someone else on your team. If they subsequently pass it to you and you’re now onside then that’s fine.
But if you were offside the last time a player on your team touched the ball then you’re offside when you touch it. It doens’t matter who else has touched it in the meantime.
Lovely - that’s what I assumed given the certainty of your earlier post but just wanted it clarified.
You’ve been proved incorrect a number of times lately though, e.g. the Andres Iniesta debacle, so can I get you to please link to the relevant law on the FIFA website?
PS, Mark Bolton, Gerry Armstrong and Guillem Balague all reckon it was onside.
What if Sevilla midfielder had the ball and his team mate was offside. The midfielder passes it to another player but it’s intercepted by a Barca player. The Barca player then turns around and passes it back to his goalkeeper but it’s intercepted by the offside Sevilla player. Goal.

Guillem isn’t as sure as the others in fairness to him.
I’ll look for a link from FIFA - it’s not a law by the way. The law itself is very short, it’s some sort of disclosure document they released that dealt with interfering with play etc. The law doesn’t go into any of that.
In the meantime, let me explain it another way.
You can only be offside when a player on your team plays the ball. If he plays the ball and you’re offside then it doesn’t matter how many deflections it takes off opponents. They’re all irrelevant to the law. The law is only applied to your team. So your team-mate scuffs a shot, x happens involving the opposition, you receive the ball and shoot and score. If you were offside when the first shot was hit then nothing has happeneed in the interim to change that and you are interfering with play because you’ve only gone and touched the ball.

Count or not?
No, doesn’t count.
Offside position: Yes
Ball touched by teammate to allow you onside: No
Involvement in play: Yes
