It’s generally just to do with times that the prices fluctuate. Book the train early anyway it only goes up as it gets closer. I think a week before is where it takes a big jump and again about 3 days before.
The direct train is counter-intuitively slower as a rule. Has to stop everywhere on the way. Not much of a difference on the way down, but on the way back the “indirect” can generally be a good bit quicker as they don’t need to stop after Thurles so they make up good time.
Trains in the evening particularly where the drivers finished for the day often manage to miraculously arrive in Dublin up to 20 minutes ahead of schedule.
Just watch if you are booking the change that there isn’t a massive wait in Limerick junction. They generally match up but the odd time you can be caught for twenty mins if you aren’t careful, and Limerick junction is a terribly depressing place at the best of times.
Informative rating for the above.
I’ll book later today.
@Horsebox thanks for the offer but I don’t dabble in personal due to coronary defect issues.
I didn’t think you did alright, brian. Too much class about you to be messing around with that shit. Sorry to hear about the oul ticker-take care of it.
Drink in moderation.
You mean you aren’t out already ?
I’m a lightweight, not afraid to admit it
Afraid not, pal. Up in splendid D4 having a get together with chums.

Stag no. 3 of the year underway. Copenhagen for @downwiththemuckers’ stag. €7.80 for a pint of Carlsberg. Pleasantly surprised, was expecting worse.
How was Limerick?
He missed out on some serious easy likes not giving updates from there
Limerick yet to come. Have done Carrick on Shannon and Killarney so far.
I’m at a stag in Killarney in a fortnight. Any use?
