Exactly. Its their neglect of kids during their holidays which is causing the problems. If they were in school more they could keep an eye on the kids.

You’re an idiot. Kids look up to teachers and learn by example but teachers are collectively the laziest people Ireland produces so the kids have laziness ingrained in them from an early age despite their parents’ best efforts.

Fat parents will most likely raise fat kids. I love to see the away with the fairies brigade say less well off kids are more likely be fat. A very very infantile view point.

The whole Childhood Obesity thing is being overstated to some degree. If it’s such a thing in Ireland, where are all the fat kids? There are no obese kids in either of my kids class of 30. There are very few in the whole school as far as I can see. I also worked coaching sport in Primary Schools about 10 years ago and again there were fuck all obese kids. Definitely less than one per class.

Educating kids and parents on nutrition and exercise is going on in various forms for a long time and it’s working. The hysterical child obesity stuff being directed at parents is often just another attempt to scare money out of them.

The school Mrs Mac used to teach (she’s a teacher, cc @The_Selfish_Giant) in, in North Kildare (cc @mickee321) was full of fat kids. They’d regularly turn up in the morning munching big breakfast rolls and drinking 500ml cans of those weird energy drinks.

you see’d the kids allright heading up from dunnes eating all sorts of rubbish
the mrs (a social worker) was abhorred by it … young lads with packets of buiscuits , its mostly kids around 14-16 tho id say

That whole area is just pure barrenland to me. We lived for a few weeks with a friend of Mrs Macs in Rathcoffey. Its an utterly bleak area devoid of any character.
