The whole Alonso thing stems back from a game in the 2007/08 Champions League campaign (canât remember which one) where Xabi refused to play as his wife was about to pop.
Benitez then tried to ship him out last summer because of it. And Alonso got the hump.
Either way he was brilliant last season and answered Benitez in the best way possible. If Liverpool lose him then it is a massive, massive blow.
