Super Blues - Official Thread 2016

He was black, thats all I know.

Why the fuck was Michael Essien in Limerick?? Saw Pat walking him and another fella round the pitch before the match, I didn’t recognise him… in fact I laughed at the idea that either were footballers- they both just looked rich. Mad really.

Tonight’s performance was good though, not the highest goals scored or anything like that but they looked a lot more focused than they have in recent times- created chances continually. Looked vulnerable a couple of times and conceded a stupid penalty in the last minute (which was one of the most horrific penalties I’ve ever seen) but in general were very comfortable. O’Flynn looked sharp when he came on, could have had a hat-trick. Duggan looked fit and dominant in the middle… prick of a linesman calling for offside after he ran 90 metres with the ball and laid it off to O’Flynn, would have been an unbelievable goal.

Hit the post three times, had another three cleared off the line, two ruled out for offside. Have to be a bit more clinical for Derry but you’d be encouraged by the performance, best players are back fit. I think O’Conor has to be in midfield with Kelly at right-back. Lynch was probably the only worry, anonymous in the 2nd half but he’s a big game player and best suited to the free role.

I’m going to head up to it, hope they win it.

How is paudie o’Connor going? Have a few link with the family and would wish him we’ll

He’s doing pretty well, he’s played pretty much every game after all. He does make mistakes, but he’s still young and he does have a lot of talent for sure.

The defence is the weak link in the team, although the fault may not lie only with the defenders, just the general way we set up means chances are conceded. Be interesting to see how he goes against Derry, Patterson has looked very sharp this season.

If Limerick were to sign another centre-back, he may be the one pushed out but Russell does seem to like him and he’ll improve with gametime.

Who knocked Limerick out of the cup lads?

Which cup?

Paul O’Connor is a weak link in the team, slow on the ball and slow in thinking. Not good enough, will be on the bench next year. Paudie O’Connor for a lad of nineteen is brave, strong and a good ball player. He makes the odd mistake but he is excellent. The full backs are the problem, Kelly, Russell not at the required standard. The standout is Kenny, a reall good addition. Greene class, gone quiet but a top player. Mulhall is a very good option, great work rate but not prolific. A new striker with pace playing off him would be great. O’Flynn is a class act, a pity about the injuries and age I suppose. A good year so far.

All Limerick, unlucky not to be ahead.

Whats the link up with ghana?

1-0. Stephen Kenny

I’m staying in a gaff 10 yards from the Hellas Verona club shop in the old town of this lovely city. About to head out now but will listen out for the car horns and vespas if Limerick win
