1:1 in the first half at home against Waterford
3-1 up at HT. John O’Flynn hatrick.
5-2
6-2 and with that in game 13 of their season Limerick have their 50th goal.
7-2
We were sloppy enough at stages tonight too! Ah it’s ridiculous, we’ll be promoted by the time the hurlers are out of the championship at the start of July.
Great crowd again, almost 1,500. Bigger than some clubs in the premier division are getting.
The local soccer club took 85 schoolboy/girls in tonight to help boost numbers. When you are winning these are the types of extra people you will get through the stiles.
7-2, but Waterford were the team that looked most like scoring regularly against us. Probably should have had another two at least. Maybe down to the inexperienced defensive partnership. That O’Brien fella, number 7, scored twice against us in the RSC and scored a screamer today. But he’s a fine player in general. Waterford played two up front throughout, they had a go, fair play to them.
Limerick played some beautiful football though. Sloppy defensively, maybe a bit complacent but we cut through them time and time again. O’Flynn was class when he was on the field and Lynch was superb from the bench. O’Flynn scored three good striker’s goals and then set up the 4th with good work rate.
Duggan was quiet enough, but Greene was at his best, Tracy & Kelly both did well too imo.
Hall very bad for the first goal, kinda redeemed himself with a good stop later on.
I like Freddy but he is having a shocking season. Cost us about five or six goals already this season directly from his mistakes.
Can get away with it in this league but next season he needs to pull the finger out. Probably a concentration issue this year as he was brilliant when he was called in last season to lead the revival.
We were talking about it today; needs dropping if just to give him a kick up the arse. He’s been awful.
Huge match tomorrow night, probably be our first real test of the season. It’ll be strange having some tension back in a Limerick game.
Going well
2-0
Full time 2-0
We are through to the semi finals of the EA Sports cup !!!
EA SPORTS CUP: The semi-final draw will take place tomorrow, 2pm. We join @ShamrockRovers, @stpatsfc and @derrycityfc in the pot #LimerickFC
They’re learning from the GAA and under reporting attendances. The gate for cup games is split between the competing clubs - they gave the attendance as 937 but there was closer to 1,300 in there.
Good win but Galway didn’t even include Faherty in the match day squad so that shows how seriously they were taking it. Limerick could have been three or four up at half time and bar a five or ten minute spell in the second half at 2-0 were fairly comfortable all the way through. O’Flynn and Greene both rested but still advanced. Freddy has been shaky this season but he was good tonight.
Would take anything but Derry away in the semi final. Which means that Derry away is nailed on!
Last time Limerick won the league cup it was up in the Brandywell
