Another very dodgy performance today against Shels. Won 4-3, but Shels arenât a great side and now that we have a few injuries, the performances arenât quite as good. Possible complacency too.
Aaron Greene injured loses a lot of dynamism in attack, Russell isnât even a tenth of the player Greene is. Coughlanâs not top class, but he is a miss as an option, Duggan is a huge loss in the middle as Lynch doesnât really do the defensive side of the game. And there are no options on the bench really- Sharkey & Murphy out too. Tommy Holland started in goals as well, and was at fault for the first Shels goals, kicked it straight off the back of the Shels player closing down. Hall has made mistakes too, but it was a poor goal to concede.
OâFlynn is top class though, lovely little finish for the first again. Took him off at 3-1 up and it got nervy at the end, Shels hit the post with Holland beaten with about a minute to go. Never really got the ball down and played through them, whenever we did, we looked like scoring. 2 penalties and Mulhallâs goal was exceellent too.
First time in Tolka Park, not as decrepit as it looks on tv. Crying shame to be put in a covered stand which was freezing on what was a beautiful day though.
Drogheda drew with Cabinteely, so if they beat them at home next week, theyâll be17 points clear.
I might have unknowingly been talking to you pal! Was chatting to a couple of lads and we were all grumbling that they stuck us in the covered stand on the nicest day of the year.
Only played well in patches. Did enough but a scratchy enough display. In fairness by the end of the game we were missing Freddy, Sharkey, Duggy, Greene, Mulhall and OâFlynn. Six of our best players! Get a win next week and hopefully get a few bodies back after the mid season break.
Young Holland had a 'mare and fucked my -1 bet. Mind you heâs only a young lad so I wonât be too critical of him. I actually think Sean Russell is decent. Glad we got him back.
Was up early so avoided the mad crash on the M7 motorway. Most of the singing section missed the first half hour. They were in good form when they did arrive⌠" Na Na Na Na Na⌠Gerry Gerry Hutch, Gerry Hutch, Gerry Gerry HutchâŚ"
âHutchâs on fire, Kinihanâs are terrifiedâŚâ
Would OâFlynn be on good money, Mick? Surprised premier division clubs didnât come in for him anyway. A poacher.
Was told by someone in the club that they needed to get 1,000 people per home league game to break even for the season and they are getting well above that so far.
ah jesus he would yeah id say
the problem is he has been incredibly injury prone since 2006
he got it together after that and had a very good spells at Barnet and Exeter before coming back to Cork in 2014 on a 1 year deal
He is only 33 . i dont know why Cork didnt keep him on but im guessing it was his high risk of injury or else maybe limerick came in with a better deal
i remember him been out in the smoking area of the big tree in august 2005 after cork beat clare in the all ireland semi final and then playing against Derry the next night the year they won the league.,
Heâd often bee seen playing Junior B football for Cobh in the last year or 2
I heard he is on âŹ1,000 a week from a fella whoâd be a good follower of it, but Iâve no idea if thatâs true or not (he wasnât that confident in it himself) his goal bonus alone must be making him a few quid.
The weekly figure could also be just for season which would only be about âŹ30,000 I suppose.
Big money for Limerick to be paying if true but I suppose itâs worth it to get them back up.
Sure itâs cat altogether, no security either since practically all are on one year deals. Iâd imagine most of the Limerick team are making considerably less than that, more like âŹ300-âŹ500 a week.
They must have other jobs Iâd imagine.
Be fairly galling to think the lad that cuts the grass probably gets paid more than you
