TFK Bogball Team 2000-2019 Half Forward Line

Declan o sullivan - mcguigan-paul flynn…

Plenty of variations in the selections thus far. I’ve another version:

Brogan, Murphy, McDonald.

To me Mcdonald was like Lauren Robert… When it came off it looked great but truth be told it rarely did come off and he had some very bad misses… he was lucky to be on a team that hadn’t many star forwards… If he was put centre forward on a kerry or tyrone team of his generation he would have been seen as a man that wasted a lot of ball.
Mcguigan has to be on it for me as he’s the cleverest centre forward since Tony hanahoe regards link play and twice the passing ability…
Declan o sullivan was another head up footballer with silky skills… Paul flynn was the leader and engine of dublin for years and chipped in with vital scores while also being a great link player and amazing fielder… Connolly loses out as he’s the most gifted footballer Ive ever seen but hasn’t done it enough for me.

I found it difficult to choose between them (Dooher and Galvin) but they epitomise modern wing forward play,
I assume the full forward line will absolutely shoot the lights out so two dirty ball winners and good decision makers will be spot on here

Lauren Robert?!

Surely you could think of better flashy type players to make your point?

I suppose we’ll never know how McDonald would fit into other teams but he was a lovely footballer even if put in at corner forward and needed to get scores. As he showed in 1997 on Mayo’s run to the All Ireland that year.

What about Greg Blaney? A bit early for me but from memory he was a class act.

Dooher had more football in his little toe than Galvin.

The greatest point ever scored in an All Ireland Final.

Dooher is the greatest wing forward of the past 20 years, hands down.

Sitting lads on their arses, dodging and weaving his way around people and hitting wonderful scores off either foot.

And the bigger the game, the bigger the moment - the more Dooher delivered.

I’ll tell you this - there’s not a hope of Paul Galvin doing what Dooher did in that 2008 final.

Donnellan Kilkenny Galvin

The fashionistas hard tackling and workrate compliments the two galway lads vision and skill, Kilkenny finding a speeding Donnellan with silky thru ball

McDonald Murphy Galvin

Good call on Blaney as a centre forward link player but nowhere near as classy as mcguigan IMHO … . Teak tough player, a scavenger for possession who kept it simple but very effective …
Ok Lauren Robert is a bit extreme but you get the point… McDonald was a flare player very much suited to the Mayo pysche… IMHO…

Donnellan, Mcdonald, Brogan. This is a dream team with an excellent set of backs, no need for lads in the half forward line whose main asset is their willingness to drop back inside their own 45.

If you want a lad to jog about the pitch posturing and playing a few short hand passes then Paul Galvin is your man

We’re slowly getting the message, you’re canvassing for Dooher.
A sly peek at the votes to date indicates that he’ll need to bring his hard running game to the final quarter. There’s a gap there that needs closing - can he do it?

Freagra amárach.

Yes and either you never watched Dooher play or you don’t know a thing about football.

Dooher was an all action player, hitting scores off both feet 40 yards out, kicking the ball and getting returns.

Galvin was lad who picked up some breaking ball and fist passed to another player and stood pointing with his hands on his hips. Galvin is simply incapable of hitting the scores Dooher did and incapable of delivering the dominating performances in the big games that Dooher did.

Dooher was a Pavel Nedved.

Galvin was a Didier Deschamps.

There’s no need to go off on one about Galvin, I didn’t mention or vote for him but carry on.
Negative campaigning can however have attritional results, I wouldn’t see Galvin as your biggest threat.

I don’t see Galvin as a threat.

I just see him as the next Tomas or Marc O’Se who have no right being in that team but will get in regardless.
