giving a life partner an upgrade is like sending a soldier to war.
It’s risky and some people can never come back.

It’s a nice treat.
You can book it for one leg for not too much extra. Another use of avios is to gift a friend or family member an upgrade. Find out their flight details and arrange it. Again a lovely treat.
The deals Avios has with the likes of Hotels.com or Booking.com is like finding money on the street. They also have their own hotels portal. I’ve just made a hotel booking through them there worth about 350 quid and they’re giving me the guts of 5000 points for it.
I would suggest that if you have the option to book your own hotel accommodation for business to use Hotels.com. Essentially every 10 nights you book you get a night free to use on most of their hotels which to my mind is far better than the likes of a Marriott etc loyalty program where you have to stay with Marriott and can only use with Marriott.
Agree with the sentiments here I used 30000 for a return flight to NY for the young fella back in June only had to pay taxes and charges which was only 150 lids
What do you think of Aer lingus business class mate?
I don’t think it is anything close to the middle eastern airlines but I can work away flying over, surf tfk, watch a movie, have a glass of wine in relative comfort and arrive not too fucked. It’s priced a lot cheaper than other airlines I think. Certainly to East Coast USA.
Flying home from US and being able to sleep semi properly is it’s main attraction for me.
It makes flying enjoyable as opposed to a real fucking chore.
I’m off to the US in November and January but have grown to dislike the long journeys and try to do less of them.
I have concierge status now so must try and make use of the free upgrades and companion fare this year. I’d like to use it for a fun weekend away and cut loose on the booze.
Ya it’s a great job. The one booking our trips in work will only use hotels.com no matter how much cheaper it is on other sites and I know well what she’s at, she must be getting a free holiday a year out of it (and she dead right) I’d say that’s exactly why they do it. They know the people booking aren’t price sensitive for work trips
My missus booked her own trips in the last place she was in and ‘‘twas ideal. We’d have a night built up every 3 or 4 months, great for weddings and that.
I found it disappointing
You must be working in a real Mickey Mouse operation.
I feel like I should clarify here that I have never used my points to upgrade my life partner. You’re better off keeping your points secret from your life partner.
Fucking around with credits, tier points and avios. 3 days to get 25 pound off a flight. I don’t know how they do it
They must still have the First Communion money.
Is there anything worse than having to fly Ryanair when you’re travelling on business? So depressing and degrading.
Having to liaise with the great unwashed.
It like the feeling I get on here when discussing music.
Very easy to spend someone else’s money.
I’m off to London tomorrow morning. I will sleep for two hours on the train (first class cc @Fagan_ODowd), give my input for half an hour, daydream through another ninety odd minutes, and doze for two hours on the train back.
I am looking forward to this bizarrely.
Ideal day. Read the paper glass of wine on the way home
