This game is on now folks. 5 - 4 to the Canadians in the 10th end. Tense times with Scotland having 2 stones “in the house” but Canada have the last stone.
Advantage Scotland. 3 stones in the house and the Canadians pucking their last one in now. Tense times here.
Tremendous stuff. We’re going to an extra end. Just heard that Scotland were 3 down with 2 ends to play but Eve single handedly pulled them back level.
Thanks Mac. Just tuning in now.
Canada seem to be struggling to find their shots
The strategy is fascinating, a sport where tactics plays a real part.
What time is Aoife going at?
Bad news. The news filtering through of Switzerland’s win over on Rink 2 meant that it was over for the girls, regardless of what happened in extra time. But the final nail in the coffin was driven home with a two shot defeat in that extra end. Gutted that we won’t be seeing Eve for the rest of the week. However she’s a young skip and I’m sure we’ll see her in Sochi in 2014. A tale of two skips really, Eve starting out on a journey, but Canada’s Jackie Lockhart could be in her last Olympics in front of her home crowd, and she wants to go out on a high. You can’t buy that top level experience. But in four years time Eve will emulate the legendary Rhona Martin. I’m sure of it, and remember you heard it here first.
Hard luck on the Brits
I’m thinking of founding Ireland’s first curling team
In the absence of an ice rink anyone know somebody with the keys to a meat locker?
Little known fact. Flano calls curling “hurling”.
There’s a permanent ice rink in Dundalk. I’ll supply a few brushes for a spot on the team?
Missed this match as i was in thurles. sounded like a great match where eve stood up. As sid said she will be back in 4 years to claim the gold. I have to agree with that.
No problem
I just had a look at their website and couldn’t find any mention of curling, very disappointing
Heartbreaking to think back to the days when there was two ice rinks in Dublin. RIP Dolphin’s Barn and Phibsborough.
Surely a few stones and brushes could be sourced. I’d imagine that ice rink is only used about 20% of the time so we cold rent it and start Irelands own curling team. The Sports Council would surely help us out with a few grants?
They give those fucking walkers money dont they?
The sports council should be only too happy to provide a grant for this. i forcast the tfk irish curling team could be olympic contenders in 4 years time with the proper resources
But who’d be skip?
Too true Deccie. Bandage chickened out of entering a tag rugby team for TFK so this is a way to make up for it. We could go altitude training in the home of curling. I’m so convinced this could work that I’m prepared to hand my notice in tomorrow morning.
Easy
I’m skip
The heartbeat of wintersports on this board…
Actually I’d say we wouldn’t have much trouble getting a few quid, they gave money to horseshoe pitching there recently enough
