The next few decades are gonna be all about mass migration from the developing world… There’s a place in Ireland for some of these people.
We have an opportunity to get the nuts and bolts right now. But 5 year governments archive little… We need to create a task force of experts across a wide variety of professional backgrounds, including some migrants, and get a non political system in place that helps migrants integrate into and contribute to irish society.
The government needs to at least start countering these far right nutbags with their disinformation and run a tv / online campaign giving the truth and showing the human side to this.
While there’s plenty of money in Ireland there’s also a lot of people barely surviving… Paying outrageous rents, bills, food prices… They’re angry and looking for someone to blame. Their anger should be aimed at the cunts who are selling the country out from underneath us every day. That allow vulture funds to come in and take over the housing market. That allow our natural resources to be sold back to us 1000x . That continue to push the cager agenda… They should be outside the Dail screaming for blood.
I do have concerns about the amount of undocumented turning up. I’d fuck em back where they came from… But migrants are here to stay (literally) we need a proper system that serves them and the country.
Get them all hurling under Kinnerk and kiely for a month when they arrive.
Posters on here have said we should stop refugees from coming here. Posters on here have raised concerns about refugees being “unvetted”, whatever that is supposed to mean.
We should leave the EU… It has become a monster. We can still have trade agreements and what not with access to the market but politically we need out of that shite. It’s far removed from the EEC.
Something like 70% of all legislation passed in our parliament comes from Brussels. (Not sure of the exact figure but it’s something like that).
We are the good little boys of Europe. We do as we are told and get a little pat on the head/some cushy number in return. Like the number Pascal has now.
Only the most racist would begrudge people from Ukraine coming in. One of my siblings has taken in a lovely woman from Ukraine, countless others around the country have done the same.
It’s an unprecedented situation, such displacement of millions of people in Europe. Just a horrible situation. Clearly, in addition to this, we have many others looking to stay here. They were known as refugees and economic migrants. Now, to ward off any dissent, they are known as ‘international protection’ applicants.
No doubt there are genuine cases among those seeking refuge here. It’s just the system is also being exploited by others - is it acceptable to say that without being labelled far right or racist?
Those who arrive on flights from London, Paris or Berlin without any paperwork should be returned to the country of origin. That’s not racist, that’s a country with a semblance of border control. We could easily nip some of this in the bud by implementing an advanced passenger information form, similar to that used to enter the States. We’d know who is coming in and from where. Genuine people from war torn areas can still be offered protection, the bogus ones denied landing.
Politicians won’t touch this issue for obvious reasons but this situation is only going to get worse. The accommodation system is already creaking at the seams. Scum like the Irish Freedom Party are only going to gain a stronger foothold in marginalised areas.
People should still be allowed to discuss this issue without being cast as intolerant or bigoted.
They do. But they also seem to forget the issues they’ve bred at home. Migrant woman from Mongolia bursting her hoop working and a little scrote kills her. Brazilian working for peanuts delivering grub attacked by gang of scrotes.
It’s not some paragon of virtue down the East Wall. No garden of Eden the immigrants are going to spoil. This is a case of people punching down.
Safety issues are there ever before a migrant tries bed in.
On the money. It’s like smoke and mirrors. The group struggling the most are misdirecting their genuine anger. They’re punching down as they feel they’re now no longer lowest on the totem pole.
There are various greater, deep-rooted problems having far more generational impact than the immigration issue. That’s not to say the latter isn’t a problem; it is and needs tackling. But addressing and solving some of the underlying issues long choking daily life in these areas would be hugely more deserving of the buy-in and passion of those out protesting presently.
