That's it ! everybody in RTE should be executed forthwith

Great to see The 51 get some publicity. I was in there last midweek for a spot of lunch with @Cesc4 & I heard that RTÉ had cancelled an event due to take place there due to this controversy.

I can buy 200 pairs for 4k retail

They still exist and are accessible online and via saorview, Virgin media, sky tv etc. but obviously not through DABs

Correct, the DAB stations have been switched off for a good while now.

I may have brought back 100 pairs from Rio in 2009 for €500

Ah lads

Love to see all NGOs that receive public funding get audited like this now

These revelations today seem a bit of a non-story.

A few grand here and there for Flip-Flops, Concerts, Pubs etc is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

We need GOGO TV to be investigated here quick and see where the money there is ending up.

The digital stations are still there but as an online entity only.

I briefly did some work for one of them. It was unpaid. The ‘perk’ was a bit of paid work in return but I quickly grew tired of that. It was a glorified student radio station.

Be standard practice to hand out goodie bags at these things with branded merch in them, no? Like the Anglo golf balls and umbrellas in days of yore. I have branded power packs, windcheaters and my favorite a branded dressing gown that I got at a golf outing during the Celtic Tiger (wtf).

I think there is a big difference between televising the Dail/Senate and a committee hearing. I’m absolutely in favour of the first.

I’d agree my view is cynical but I’d suggest you’re naive if you don’t think there is truth in it. All I’m suggesting is that the priority of politicians is politics and actions follow the motivations.

For example - I don’t think it’s any surprise that the committees wanted the RTE execs etc in front of them as quickly as possible. Arguably, giving them more time to gather data would prevent the drip drip effect we’ve seen. Most court cases give time to allow discovery etc. However, the politicians knew that to feed the media cycle they wanted to get them in front of cameras asap to allow the grandstanding to commence…

A commercial organisation needs to act commercially and the reality is that some of this stuff is standard enough for any business selling services.

No one is above this.

If getting root and branch reform at RTE means the destruction of Shamrock Rovers that’s a pill I’m willing to swallow.
