To paraphrase the old golf saying of drive for show putt for dough for use in this context a public committee meeting is for show. If you really want to chase the money go private but I can’t see the politicians going for that. Unless they are going to tweet or send messages while the meeting is in progress.

Not the world I live in unfortunately but isn’t it commonplace for companies to organise gifts, freebies etc for clients? I’ve often seen lads here reference free meals in fancy restaurants or premium seats in Croke park etc, what’s the difference here?
