Have watched very little Spanish football this year but could any reasonable observer give a view of their chances at the Euros? That’s a fairly poor Chelsea side that Barca lost to. Thought the Spanish side 4 years ago was utterly superb but despite winning the World Cup in 2010 I thought they had slipped back somewhat from the form of 2008.
That’s because the Spanish side played open and attacking football in 2008, Del Bosque adopted the Barcelona approach and went into cautious possession football, where fear of seceding possession was the driving factor within the team. Spain pretty much played the entire world cup with 3 holding midfielders and full backs who didn’t provide many overlapping runs.
