The reason they won’t leave is because they aren’t encouraged to. They should be shown an Avenue that keeps you in the system.

It’s absolutely insanity in this day and age that professional athletes go back and play ail. Is it even save?

Well worth going to a few AIL div 1 games and deciding yourself. Terenure would give the dragons a decent game

However, it’s fairly presumptuous to think the likes of Scott Penney would get more games with decent teams anywhere else. Or Prendergast. If they can’t get a URC game in Ireland are they going to land in and be starting players in a super rugby team?

Rhys Patchell is starting ten for the the Highlanders so it’s not that far fetched

Diarmuid Barron would learn a lot more in pro D2 in France than he would pissing about the ul sports bar.

Diarmuid Barron was getting games week in week out . He is injured since dec he had an op and is still rehabbing.

Would there be any late developers who have came through the AIL that should be brought into the provinces. Say a 25/26 year old. Or do the provinces just stick with their academy lads instead?

You might see given a short term contract.

There was a winger for Leinster maybe 15 years ago who ended up playing a good bit. Was he Barnhall maybe?

Munster had a couple too. Neil Cronin maybe.

If Harry Byrne gone to France or somewhere for consistent minutes for two seasons and came back to Leinster after sexton retired he’d be starting Saturday.

25 years old but still relatively inexperienced.

He’s not as good as the other options either …yet…but agree the only way he will improve is games. But he is too light IMO to start for Leinster at moment and could end up being a massive target and leave his confidence in the toilet…
