The Battle for Sam 2009

Was talking to a few Kildare boys, they were doing their serious training last year. Geezer never let up for any part of the Cship. They were shocked they went so far, McGeeney practically wrote off 2008 and still got to an 1/4 final.

He was clever enoguh against Limerick. We should have been well out of sight at half time but we missed a few handy chances. Kildare went in at half time, McGeeney saw the way the game had been going, put a new game plan in place and they destroyed us in the 2nd half. Was very impressed with him that day.

Good bit to prove imo. Also lost to Wicklow in Croke Park last year.

Huge amount to prove, hence this is a big year for him. No excuse for ever losing to Wickla, even if the magician is over them.

It’s up to you New York, Newwwwww Yoooorrrrk

Ya, of course he still has tons to prove but I was saying that he showed good tactical awareness on the sideline and was able to change his teams gameplan to counteract the opposition, thus turning the game in their favour. He impressed me for a first year manager.

Did ya happen to find anyone apart from 365 offering 6/4 Dublin KIB Man ?

Stan James is the only one now TDB. Just checked there. Powers and the rest of them cunts have tightened into 11/10 so now it the time to lump it on I’d say. I your going OTT let me know first so I can throw on a few shekels

Kildare at 6/1 at Sky Bet best price.

Not sure how liquid Betfair is for that market. Have a bit of work to do today but will check up later :stuck_out_tongue:
They are definitely a back to lay proposition Padjo.

They had a reasonable league, albeit in Div 3 and have their Under 21 lads to come back.

Not the worst draw in the world either. I expect them to get to at least the semi finals, upon which time the 12/1 will be long gone
I’ll defer to your superior gambling nous
No chance that Galway are ‘nailed on’ in Connacht. Didn’t Mayo beat them in Salthill in the league costing them a league final place?

A massive, massive problem with the back door system is the non second chance for defeated provincial champions. It is just not fair.
huh, am I reading this right?

I’ll be getting on at 6/4 alright - its too big. The likes of Meath may make life slightly uncomfortable for half and hour or so but I’d be very surprised if they beat them.

Apologies for being a nuisance but what are top prices for Leitrim and Mayo for Connacht. That game in Castlebar is a Connacht final in all but name

I picked that up earlier but knew what Farmer meant so let it go.

Leitrim 40/1 in PP.

ros 18/1 in PP

Sligo 16/1 in boyles

mayo 6/4 - VC, lad

Galway - evs - boyles, lads

Are you sure Galway v Mayo is on in Castlebar? I thought Galway were at home.

I would have Galway as slight favourites either way against Mayo.

Dublin are far more of a certainty to dispose of Meath and Kildare than Mayo to dispose of Galway and Sligo imo.

What did he mean. I’m truly puzzled.

Mayo vs Leitrim is in Castlebar KIB Man…reckon the winners of that will win the Nestor.

Cheers for the prices.

What’s wrong with that? If you’re a provincial champion and you lose a match you don’t get a second chance.

its hardly a massive massive problem though Rock

I think the idiot was just reading it wrong.

What’s the problem?

The fact that the back door does not allow a second chance to provincial winners is a major flaw in the system.

They are the only group of teams to which no scecond chance applies which is unfair.

You’re correct Farmer- its an anomaly alright
A team beaten in the first round has a grand chance of playing some easy opposition and peaking for August. A team in provincial championships peaks for the provincial final and then has no way back once they win.
