Limerick for the double. You heard it here first.
Great game yesterday. Dublin won’t win the All Ireland though. Tyrone’s to lose in my opinion.
Great minor game aswell. Some great scores kicked by both sides. Dublin fans outnumbered by about 6 to 1 for the majority of the minor game. Worst supporters in the country
He’s just bitter 'cos he didn’t end up being as good as some of the lads playing yesterday.
Dubs showed bottle and Gilroys decision to go with youth and bring on the old timers like Cullen, Whelan and Ryan is worjking to an extent. Whats not working is Ciaran Whelan, not sure what he offers.
Bandage shown up again though for not rating Kildare.
Yesterdays experience will be worth alot to them, and i wouldn’t fancy meeting them the next time they are in CP.
Kildare weren’t good against Wexford but, like Dublin against Meath, it was early days in the championship at that stage and they’re obviously improving with more games and building confidence, belief, cohesion so fair play to them for that.
That was some game yesterday. Had everything really brilliant scores, great tackling, hard hits and a bit of a dirty edge to it too at times. Brian Cullen made a massive difference at centre back and Bernard Brogan came of age up front though he missed a stonewall sitter at the end for a goal. I think the form that Dublin showed yesterday was the best by any side this year and I think they should be second favourites after Tyrone as a result.
Kildare I felt used the extra man superbly in the second half after initially struggling just after the breal. They created overlaps particularly as Whelan’s legs are gone and kicked some brilliant points from distance. They never looked like getting a goal tho and when it came to the crunch they just froze. Doyle’s missed free was inexplicable and then the number three I think came up the field about a minute later and kicked a crossfield ball out of play. Brogan got a handy free at the end too. Those were turning points as Dublin were out on their feet at that point. I thought the Dubs showed great fight yesterday and they are a real danger now I feel to Tyrone.
For Kildare all is not yet lost as long as they can recover quickly. They really could have won the game and for an inexperienced side did extremely well for long periods. I wouldnt be a fan of McGeeney generally but fair play to him cos the knives were out big time after losing to Wicklow last year. He has improved them beyond recognition. They looked a fine side yesterday. Hopefully this defeat wont crush them and at least they arent playing straight away. If they got someone like Kerry I’d say they could turn them over in Croke Park.

Indeed.
I remember watching Kildare against Fermanagh last year in Croke Park and it was no score after 27 minutes.
They have certainly come on immeasurably since then and that is due to McGeeney.
I would fancy them to take Kerry on current form.
How does Wexfords inability to beat Roscommon impact on the rest of the fixtures?
When do the winners play Meath?
Kerry forward Kieran Donaghy is sweating over the results of a scan that could rule him out of action for the rest of the Championship.
Donaghy had to be substituted during his side’s SFC qualifier victory over Longford on Saturday with a suspected broken metatarsal bone.
The Kingdom full-forward landed awkwardly after going for a high ball and left Pearse Park on crutches.
Saturday’s game was Donaghy’s first since returning from a broken metatarsal, and if he has aggravated the injury, his Championship campaign looks certain to be over.
Just looking at the odds for this thing and i see Kildare are 28/1 with Boylesports to win it out. I’ve been very impressed with Kildare this year, and despite losing to Dublin yesterday i don’t think we’ve seen or heard the last of them yet this year. They’ll give any team a serious game and with a bit of luck with the draw who knows. I don’t think there’s any one team that stands out in the football this year.
Well of course not, they’re still in the championship after all.
:guns:
Well i know that but what i was trying to say is that they’ll cause a bit of a ruccus before the thing is over…
Can’t see Kildare winning it outright but 28/1 is worth a punt maybe.
Don’t put your savings on it though.
great win for dubs…cracking match…thought kildare used the extra man brilliantly except for the Keeper who was reluctant to kick short instead choosing to kick long 50/50 kickouts…great workrate for dubs…Henry was my man of the match…Cullen was brilliant when he came on…he’ll be in centre back for rest of summer i’d say…Whelan showed he still has a lot to offer…Earley lost has stranglehold on midfield when Whelan came and let him know he was there…I fear Bastic is going to get destroyed…a nippy foward will clean him out…he doesn’t shadow a man or stay on his feet…he lunges in off his feet looking for one big hit…ihe’s also too quick to get involved in stupid pushing and shoving…it was defo a free at the end as the kildare player was going in with his knees into brogan on the ground…thats why the ref gave it…
Quinn was wrong sub to bring into that game…hasn’t the pace to play in a 2 man full forward line (keaney doesn’t either but his strength gives him some chance)…then when quinn went out half forward he couldn’t physically make any impression…
Dublin seem to be learning each match…yesterday they got a real test…i’d say Gilroy will learn a lot from watching it again…No team has blazed a trail this summer so Dublin are defo contenders…need to shore up the back a bit more…
What’s the story with Mark Vaughan?
Surely he is a better option than Mossy Quinn?

Has a back injury-out for a good while I think.
As modest as always KIB Man
Glad to be of service:thumbsup:
Great game yesterday
Brought the little one with me- I never realised that there was as much noise in Croker- it was unbelievable
It was a good game all around, Dubs showed a bit of nerve and bottle to close out the game when they could easily have folded.
Kildare were way too conservative in the second half, if they had kicked on like they did in the first half then they would have won the game.
Thought the Dubs did v well to regroup at half time and to reshape the team. It won them the game. Brogan was superb in the second half taking his scores, thought Cullen shored the centre up very well. I’d be very surprised if Brennan features again this year. It was stupidity and petulance to be sent off as he was
I can see a Dublin vs Kerry quarter final.
Two strange pieces of team news ahead of this weekends feast of GAA:
Deccie Meehan is named at corner forward for Galway against Mayo
Mike McCarthy is named at centre back for Kerry against Sligo
McCarhty was expected to come back Farmer.
Meehan is a strange one alright. IS Nicky Joyce playing ?
