fuck all in Portmarnock mate. youâll end up in Malahide if you stay there
The food in Avoca, Malahide Castle
Pricey but tasty.
Lashed rain all afternoon but threw on the rain gear and took in some nice walks in the grounds of the castle.
Lessons learned: I need to get a ânetwatchâ sign for my front gate. They seem to be all the rage out that side.
The soup in avoca must be very popular. The locals in malahide are famous for their love of soup taking.
Fingal = soup taking capital of Ireland⌠going back a good 1000 years or more.
Is that why 14 sons left the Malahide Castle to fight for King James at the battle of the boyne but never returned? Or in August 1920 locals burned down the RIC station? Or why Dolores Price felt at home here?
The only fight Portmarnock locals are known to have got involved with was against the DAA and their plans for a second runway!
arent you a rugby playing castle catholic?

Seems Iâve struck a nerve here. This was meant to be a thread about he glory of Fingal not a debate on how pro-union malahide is.
Just to point out the 14 people going to fight for king James is nothing to be proud of - only the orange order remember this battle. Also it is an established fact that the 5th battalion of the IRA (west dublin) burnt down the ric barracks in malahide, despite the protests of locals who tried to save the building. Lord talbot of malahide rebuilt the station afterwards with help from the good citizens of malahide. It is now tony Byrnes menswear and he is still in the ric.
Biggest ever popular protest on malahide was in support of 2 dead donkeys. Not exactly a hotbed of activism.
However every county had its blackspot: Fingal has malahide, Leitrim has mohill, Wexford has new Ross, but this should not detract from the overall worth of the county.
That property was purchased by a local business man in the 1920âs and whose son would later become a TD for the âRepublican Partyâ and knock a nurse down in North Strand while full to the gills after a day in the Dail bar so I agree the building is nothing to be proud of, however it is well documented that Fingal was a resting place for the IRA fighting in the city centre. Malahide and Skerries was their preferred resting place. They possibly would have stayed in Portmarnock village but they didnât realise it existed until a local told them theyâd just cycled through it.

Salt and pepper, RIP.
Knowing what we do now about dbâs feelings towards creatures of the equine world itâs hard not to speculate that he may have been involved.

your forefathers built a martello tower so British rule in Ireland could be maintained.
The biggest protest in Malahide was when the people of Malahide came out in force when mad johnny was incarcerated by the gardai

I always thought the dbâs whereabouts on that night was never fully explained. He arrived back in Porto with blood stained clothes and a smell of donkey off him but we just presumed he had been out in tomangos again.
Body found on Portmarnock beach this morning.

I was just cycling past the beach and noted the presence of a garda car with a detective inside. Mrs j was down there for a jog so iâll update with her details when i get them.
More likely a taste of things to come if that giant sewage plant gets the go ahead.

Good work @Juhniallio. Iâm on the edge of my seat waiting for updates.
As an aside, I believe itâs a big day tomo for the juhniallio clan. Best wishes to all concerned
I donât think your missus would appreciate you sharing her details with everybody and anybody on TFK, mate.
In the absence of any concrete information, be sure to engage in idle speculation on her return.
Duly noted Horsebox. I can assure you now I never had any such intention. I will do twenty press-ups for my poor use of English.
