TAOISEACH Leo Varadkar has revealed that there was an unexpected Budget surplus of ā‚¬100m last year.
Itā€™s the first Budget surplus since the economic crash, barring one year when there was a windfall from the sale of AIB shares.

The announcement came after finance minister Paschal Donohoe briefed Cabinet on the latest Exchequer Returns.

Mr Varadkar said the surplus came a year ahead of schedule.

The surplus has now been spent by the HSE

Salesforce have announced 1500 new jobs in one of the largest ever jobs announcements in the state. Building a new campus on the North Quay as well.

Great news but itā€™s a pity there arenā€™t more efforts to get companies to locate outside Dublin.

Salesforce are not locating in the back arse of nowhere.

These are large international companies that need to attract talent from all over the World. They already struggle to fill vacancies due to a shortage of suitable talent in Ireland. Do you think it would be easier if they were in Letterkenny or something?
