The Celtic Phoenix - A thread to list the economic miracles of Michael Noonan & Fine Gael

That’s not a writeoff mate

Tax that will go back to Europe… Apple and others are funnelling their EU profits through Ireland for tax reasons. We will be lucky to get enough to buy a happy meal out of it.

What is it then?

Still operating a structural deficit to best of my knowledge i.e. expenditure > income

borrowing to pay day to day costs. Living off the credit card so to speak

From what he’s saying though, it sounds like the EU are encouraging other European countries to claim their chunk of the 13 billion back from Ireland.
Noone now claiming apple is the only issue, glossing over any example it may be a test case.
He sounds genuinely seething here.

Probably but this is just Apple we’re talking about. Charging them 0.005%. If that’s what we were charging across the board then there’s bound to be a significant amount to be raised if the appetite was there. How do you think domestic SME’s will feel about this. They find it hard enough to survive and many folded because of Blueshirts’ refusal to tackle upward only rents as well as an actual increase in rates charged. Can’t see how anyone could defend the Govt on this.

Its bad enough these cunts enslaved us to a massive debt, now they want Apple and Google and the likes to leave so we can really be on our knees to them forever. I’m no fan of these multi-nationals but these cunts in Europe will not dictate to us anymore.

I noted this past fortnight that there is a palpable sense of wealth in Galway at least that isn’t dissimilar to the tiger years.

It’s not a tax ever levelled by the Irish state, it’s therefore not a writeoff

It’s not Irish money

Unfortunately, we dint have the gumption to pull up our pants, tighten our belts and go it alone.

Ireland could take back it’s waters and blow any Spanish cunts that trespass out of it. We could reinvest in farming. We could become giants in bio foods.

But we’ve plumped against that and thrown our lot in with American corporations. If we are gonna continue down that road we will have to dictate our own tax levels and how we bend over for American companies.

Apple are not a shell company in Ireland, they have a place in Cork that employs 6,000. The fact we collected the tax at a rate of 0.005% instead of 12.5% means we gave them a tax write off of 12.045% on any revenue generated from Irish operations.

But the EU are allowing us to charge 12.5% meaning we do have control. The EU are at us because we were only charging 0.005%.

It is US taxpayers money.

If we want to charge 0.05% then that’s what we will do. People are getting their lives back together and in jobs after the second worst recession the country has ever experienced. If we are gonna rely on American investment then we sure as hell better hold the fuck onto it.

Here EU, go shit in your hat!

We don’t want this money just to give to ye cunts, thank you very much. We’ll keep our jobs instead.
