Sort of. Fuel processing plant or something, and I assume they will be importing the raw material into the docks. With the new road going to built in the next few years things could really take off for Foynes.
I was wondering where that smokeless fuel bill came out of lately
The company announced a major investment in Foynes two years ago with the promise of 142 jobs, but that project was jeopardised by the lack of government regulations on smokeless fuels.
The designation last month of Ireland as a smokeless zone has meant the company can proceed with its plans.
And Noonan’s home place only a short walk over the road from the factory.
The man’s a genius.
The biggest threat to the new plant actually came from objections raised by a Bord na Mona as they have/had plans to build a similar type plant in Foynes.
Much like the GAA Clubs up around the Corrib, when all else failed, it was time to stick out the paw. I think one picked off 500K if memory serves me right.
