The Daily Debate 24-03-2020 - Zlatan or Larsson?

yes.

Generational talent.

they needed the marquee signing. Zlatan came and they followed.

A true great.

So lads are reduced claiming a French title is confirmation he’s a great. That’s a sure sign he’s an absolute failure. Never done it in the champions league and teams performances in it actually improved when he left.

They got 99 league points and won one of the tightest La Liga title races edging out a Real Madrid team that scored over a 100 league goals and lost a champions league semi final due to having to travel via bus to Milan due to the ash cloud. The following year they got 96 points and won a champions league, the year after they finished second in the league to Real Madrid and Chelsea knocked them out of the Champions league.

They didn’t “improve significantly” in his absence, it was a side that played at a very high level for 5 years or so which he played a season for in the middle. They were an excellent team before he joined, an excellent team when he was there and an excellent team when he left over those five years or so.

Are you tried to argue now the Dubai money didn’t transform psg ffs?

No mate, as Dubai has nothing to do with PSG. You’re thinking of Qatar

Oooooft

The champions league is the bench mark for Great players. He played with five clubs who were nearly always competitive in the latter stages of the competition over the course of fifteen years. He never won one. When he left clubs they won it without him. He’s extremely overrated.

Ffs Middle East money whatever. That’s what transformed PSG not zatlan.

How come they lost the league once he left?

Tomorrow it’s
Chris Sutton or Marco VanBasten

You are confirming my point here. zatlans career is reduced to a Mickey Mouse league in France and lads are trying to claim he was a true great. He failed in the champions league year in year out.

Do you get the irony of calling Ligue 1 a Mickey Mouse league in this comparison or is it beyond you?

Difficult one, both Man Utd legends.

Can you explain exactly how Barcelona improved significantly in his absence? or are you just extrapolating that because they won the Champions League the following year that they were a far superior side?

The quality of their football was consistently excellent for five seasons. They managed to win Champions Leagues in two of them. They didn’t improve or disimprove significantly from a footballing perspective in the years before or after Zlatan joined.

So you are admitting Zatlan is extremely overrated and he was a failure in the champions league?

:joy:
